| Does anyone actually think that having paid "a substantial transfer fee" that the doc is going to ditch him after 10 games? Some of the toss written on here is unreal, I think some of the posts after matches are ridiculous. Personally I think he has done okay, I'm sure we probably won't see the best of him until next year as his passing game is superb and it will take a season before players begin to read him better( ask Wakey fans).
We really have turned into a fickle bunch, we need more solidarity instead of getting on players backs!
Can't wait for tomoz and looking forward to watching Eden!
Come on u reds

| Stanley, I agree, I think that there was an expectation from some folk that this collection of players would instantly gel and become pace setters in SuperLeague.
That was never going to happen, but where I feel some of the fans' frustration has come from is that we were all looking for signs of steady improvement and from my perspective it's hard to convince myself that this is happening at the moment.
I guess Dr K agreed with that also and was presumably the main driver in changing the coach a move I fully support - whether Iestyn is the right man is obviously yet to be seen but it's good to see a young British guy getting the opportunity to prove himself at the top level. For me at the moment he's saying all the right things, concentrate on the small details, get things right, look for constant small improvements then the big picture will come good

| I agree, I think if we're all being honest we didn't expect noble to last the season. I've already seen an improvement and we look a better coached side. I'm looking forward to having 2 ex half backs in charge and am encouraged by the fact that Harris instantly identified the personnel problems. If I was a betting man and it can to the quota, I think Mullaney and rapira. Both have been average and obviously by signing Eden, mullaney is on borrowed time

| At wakefield Timmy took a while to settle in or should I say the players around him took a while to warm to his passing game.
He is doesn't seem the quickest of players but he's so switched on its unbelievable , and has a great RL brain. once your forwards warm to his game and start running the line off his passes it's both brilliant and effective.
The problem is the breaks came from his passes down the flanks and we're always including players like Lauititi & kirmond - quality second rowers. Sadly since Timmy left we haven't seen that side of either of these 2 players.
If given time he will come good. He has a spell like this at wakefield, In fact some fans booed him off the pitch half way through his first season with us .

| he was not switched on much when tomkins managed to squeeze a pass away before hitting the ground for him to be looking away speaking to other players, he was much improved when he came off the bench but i hope he does come good as salford are lacking anyone who can lead us round the park

| Better from him today, but still not good enough. As said above he switched off and knocked on and then this delayed pass he does as he gets near the line needs knocking on the head, Gleeson coughed up another today. It doesn't work unless you commit the man first.

That's how Smith used to play at Wigan too.

| 4-18 when he came on today.
Influential in the comeback to 20-24. (would've been 24-24 if we had a goal kicker. Although we nailed one from the touchline and they still didn't give it).

Agree 100% TS. He has guile, ability & more pace than our wingers. We need to build using 2 x 4 letter words. Kids & Pace.

Read all the way through the thread and you've just nailed it spot on. 100% agree.

| I have been a big critic of Smith this season but I've got to say we looked better with him on the pitch today. I don't really understand why some fans are so obsessed with Theo being an amazing player. Yeah he's decent and will be a top player in the future but he's not as good as people are making out. He will get there but I think you could clearly see Smith got us moving round the park better today.

Someday, somewhere, today’s empires are tomorrow’s ashes.: |
|
| I think he had his best game for some time yesterday. He seemed to carry the ball more than he has been doing, and looked much better for it. Maybe there's been a bit of a change of tactics there.

| There may also be other underlying reasons why Smith's game can change. His illness may be a factor which is why I've been cautious with criticism of him.

Are you referring to him being Bipolar, or another illness?

Yeah, Bipolar.
The very nature of it must make it difficult for a sportsperson. The very nature of sport, and especially RL, is down to decision-making, confidence, morale, and mental toughness. Bipolar can really effect these things. Now I don't know the ins and outs of Smiths case, or how bad a sufferer he is with it, but for a professional athlete to be able to perform when at either end of the scale is very admirable.
