| After 7 games approx quarter way through the season. Won 3, working on average should possibly win 12 games, hopefully we should improve as the season goes on, but would 24 points be enough for the top 6 ?

| From looking at last years final table, the answer is no.
24 wouldn't even be enough for the top 8.
It would be just over double the amount of points we won last season though.

| 26 points is generally the bare minimum for a top 8 finish.
I think we'll probably do ok at home against teams of a similar standard like Cas, Widnes, the Hull clubs etc but we'll struggle to pick up wins away. We desperately need to win at Bradford in two weeks.

| Could do better!
Obviously the injuries have impacted the performances but there still seems like a worrying culture of under achievement.
What I do think though at some point this season it will just click and someone will get one hell of a battering, the sooner that comes the better for the rest of the season.

| D+ at best you cant just buy a load of average and over the hill players and make them into a top 8 side nobby can only buy a team he cant build one he left Bradford when the money dried up and was a disaster at wigan, DR cash has spent a load but on the wrong type of player you will get some good wins this year but I don't think you will be a top 8 side

Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll
when poor swinton scored a try

| Individually the players have done ok, but as a team we have been poor. Our attacking structures look non existent and some of defensive efforts have been poor, we are conceding far too many soft tries. We also seem to have a phobia of catching high kicks on the full!!!!

| The high kick between the defensive line and Mullaney always seems to cause problems and has cost a few tries, including one last night. Mullaney seemed to be blaming the floodlights after the one last night.
Manfredi attacked the high ball really positively against Warrington ( I know he made one mistake) and I think we're really missing this attitude. Teams will be targeting this in future.

Someday, somewhere, today’s empires are tomorrow’s ashes.: |
|
| Probably slightly below where I'd expect us to be at the moment. Some ups and some downs, but the downs are a little bit more down than I'd have hoped. The biggest problem seems to be a general lack of pace. Other teams seem to get into their running far more quickly than we do, but this may improve as the players get used to playing alongside each other. That said, our three quarters, barring Greg Johnson, are a bit pedestrian. I can't imagine any of ours making near length of the field breaks like Hull's were last night.
Brian Noble's comments about us being "out enthused" or whatever it was he says in today's Evening News are a bit worrying. Why are we being out enthused? Why does it seem to happen so often? Would it help if the travelling support watched the game and did something to encourage the team rather than focusing their efforts on exchanging puerile abuse with opposition fans?

| Hock was being put through his paces away from the team doing set plays today as I was leaving the gym, so hopefully may have a chance for Thursday! Griffin was also in the gym training on his own building strength back in his legs, his knee was still strapped but hopefully only a couple of weeks away.
