Great news this, would love to see Salford City get some decent investment. I know the chairman quite well and know how big a struggle things have been over the last couple of years.

As a Salford blue, the thought of having 2 ex-United players in charge of the Ammies doesn't sit comfortably. Nevertheless it would be great for the club and attract loads of new fans.

Of course! I'm sure she's still referred to as a chairman though? She lives local to me in Worsley, nice if somewhat crazy lady. She's also a partner in a legal firm, so whilst she isn't short of a few quid it's obviously nothing on the Giggs and Neville scale. Very passionate about Salford City though.

Obviously football isnt my thing but I've always kind of expected the Doc to take an interest, with his desire to buy Swinton it seems he is intent in wrapping up sport in the city. You'd also think he'd like to schmooze with people reported to be interestedin the football side (though he'd be wise to keep an eye on his Fillies).

Wow, exciting stuff. I’m not too keen on the name change and it surprises me Giggs or Neville would be too. I’m can only guess that they don’t want “city” in the title.

Good luck to them, that hardcore element of Salford FC fans deserve this. I’ve no doubt they’ll gain successive promotions and achieve success much quicker than FC United have, mainly due to the reputation of the owners, manager and the financial clout they’ll have.

A change of name and a move from Moor Lane? Good luck to them, but they're not the first team to try this and it's not worked out anywhere else, yet. I can't understand being happy in dropping your heritage in the chase for glory, but each to their own.

According to Miss Chairman not all of that press release is true. They’re currently preparing an official statement which should be an interesting read.

No name change and no ground change. Didn't think it would be Giggsy or Neville's style.

Good news for Salford this. They deserve it after years of little or no interest from the Salford public. Good time for the local non league scene with the new FCUM stadium coming along nicely.
