Twelve months ago we didn't know whether the Club would start the 2013 season. We played a match against Swinton at which, I believe, they did not take any money. I think it would be appropriate if we played them at the Bell Stadium over the Christmas period and allowed them to receive all the monies raised. What do you think?

Gracious comments indeed but sadly at the moment I can't see this happening since we have only one player signed on.
The Swinton trust are trying to assist in keeping the club alive and much it would appear seems to hinge on two potential investors, i'll let you draw your own conclusions about that.
Suffice to say any such investment needs to ring fence the clubs own identity in it's entirety and not be diluted.

It's the least we could do.

As mentioned in another topic, ideally I would like Marwan Koukash to buy Swinton, keep their identity and preserve their history, build them and the city a new community stadium in Agecroft (complete with conference facilities, educational classrooms, community pitches etc), forge closer links with Folly Lane ARLFC and develop a scholarship programme and loan them a number of our promising youngsters.

Didn't know it was that bad, Marshy. I have a soft spot for Swinton. Used to watch them as my 2nd favourite team in the 60s. Hope they can recover.

Including the amendment, this forms the backbone of my utopian vision too.

Having heard the chairman of Oldham FC on BBC Radio Manchester rejecting the offer from Dr Koukash for the football club on the basis that he doesn't want the club to have a new stadium it may be of benefit to Swinton RLFC.

It was said at the meeting last Thursday that all our pre season games will be away from home due to Sale playing at the ground, games we had planned were against Leigh on the 31st and a game v Wire ( TBC)
