Isn't this Highton's job?

If not what the hell is the job description?

Highton shouldn't be discarded the job he did during the financial strife should be rewarded

It would indeed be shabby treatment if that were to be the case. Let's not speculate too much - bad for the blood pressure!

Highto was/is Welfare Officer, I think this role is the key link between the players and management, and helps them sort difficulties

I’ve nothing against Paul Highton and for all I know he could be brilliant at his role but surely his position shouldn’t be warranted or protected on the basis of him being around when the club hit difficult times? If the club are to move forward and progress then it has to be about employing the best person for the role and nothing else should come into it.

Highton has done a fine job and should remain where he is. FWIW I think that football manager will have nothing to do with Highto's role.

If Highto is doing a fine job that's great. I am sure Paul himself would like to think his role is justified on his ability and contribution rather than some kind of loyalty reward.

I believe this will be like the job Simms used to do.

I'm pretty certain it's a made up role that's been dreamt up to accommodate Moz. A posh name for a club ambassador who's going to also keep the players in check and mentor the younger players.
