I was at the all golds game on Sunday and i we has a lengthy conversation with ed farrish.
As you do we asked the question about signings and he said that we have all but singed a young /back row from sale, i have looked on their website and they don't have positions on the team sheet so i cant quite figure out who it could be!
secondly he said we are close to signing a big Australian name that will be here for this season who's position is 13/hooker (not o'dwyer) so does anyone have a clue who this could be?

I'd guess at Will Addison being the lad from Sale they are looking at, pretty decent centre by all accounts.

I'm confused on both counts.

For one centre/backrower isn't a combination you'd get in union. He could've meant that's where he'd play in league I suppose, but that would definitely rule out Addison. More likely he means someone with a league background in their academy as Ray Unsworth has apparently been scouting the Barla youth leagues for them for a few years.

No Idea on the hooker/lock from the NRL either. Can't think of one high profile player who fits that description.

I understand the need for patience but it will be a serious relief when we do finally announce a decent signing.

Brian Noble, by the sounds of it.

Kurt Gidley has played 9 in soo for nsw, but he's more of a fullback than a 13 and I'm pretty certain he started at centre, like his brother. Additionally, I heard he was in contention for a Bench spot in the Anzac Day test. Still, even at his age would be a cracking signing. Not that I really see it happening, and I'd rather we signed a powerful prop.

Matt Hilder? Ryan Hinchcliffe?

Wouldn't really describe them as big names but can't imagine many teams letting a really big name player go mid-season.

just to clarify pattison91 comments... farish said he was a centre for sale but would be a sqaud player as a back rower for us .. and the second point about the nrl signing was its from a team who are struggling with the cap issue for next year and would be releasing him anyway .. couple of us thought jamie buhrer from manly maybe .. but the player is a 13 who could play hooker not is one mainly a back rower he said..

From that list the players I hope we would be targeting if possible

Some of them may have signed renewals with their current club or indeed a new club however there is a mixture of potential within those signings along with experience, if we could sign 3 or 4 from that crop I'd be more than happy.

id take harrison , hanson , carvell and burrow rest are not better than what we have

Think Burrow has signed an extension.

My money's on Dene Halatau. Bulldogs in the process of re-signing Eastwood and Tolman, so makes sense that they can't fit him under the cap. Primarily a back rower or centre in his younger days, has also played a bit at hooker. Would be a good signing, although he is 30 now.
