| Big shout out to Matty Ashurst on Friday night I thought he was our best player by a country mile. I have to say I have seriously high hopes for this guy and if he can keep turning out performances like that he won’t be far off international honours come end of season.
Well done Matty!!

| in my view the whole team was mediocre on friday
it spoke volumes that the salford Man of the Match on Friday was Gleeson , who had gone off injured some 20 minutes before the end of the game ,
As for international honours , Ashurst's not Liam Farrell who is head & shoulders the most impressive back rower so far this season

| Most of the team were mediocore but he wasn't he was top notch. I didn't say he was better than farrell but I can't see any reason why he can't be pushing for a Knights place at the end of the year if he continues to play like he did on Friday, hopefully Jodie can get back in there as well but we have got to get him some ball as he is starved of it at the moment

| Really? Top Notch?
Must admit I think he's been solid for us and he's a good squad player to have, but that’s about it, nowhere near international honours IMO. He doesn’t really make any yards when carrying the ball like most of the pack, doesn’t hit any decent running lines out wide like a top class second rower, never seems to offload or make a nice little pass on contact.
I'm not slagging him off as I think he's been solid for us, but that’s as far as it goes.

| Nah gotta take issue witht that I'm afraid. You are completely swinging and missing, everything you said he doesn't do he actually does and they are his main strengths. You do know which player we are on about right? Number 11?Just checking!

| He gained metres every time last on Friday, he won't have been far of top tackler in the game and with regards to offloading, I can recall numerous times where his passes have led to tries. Jodies last week for a start. Now that may have been his best game of the season on Friday but hopefully he can stay at that level continue his devlopment.
Come on you reds

I'll make effort to watch our number 11? (just checking) out in future games, as I for the life of me can't remember him breaking a tackle or making any yardage of note.
He never sherks a drive and gets through loads of work granted, but as I've already said he's solid, nothing special just a soild work horse. When he gets the ball I don't get excited thinking that something might happen. Do you? As you say he makes plenty of tackles, but also misses plenty as well.

| I would like to think that both Ashurst and Dixon should be looking to be selected for the Knights. I thought that Farrell had been selected for the England squad and although I am not certain I thought that once you had been selected for the England Team you couldn’t drop back down to the Knights. When you look at who was selected at second row and loose last year their stats are both better than the following:
Chris Clarkson
James Donaldson
Mark Flanagan
Paul Clough ( Can’t even get back into the Saints team)
The other 2:
Ben Harrison (currently injured) but should get in on past performances and Joe Westerman (probably offloads a bit more than Ashusrt and Dixon)
Dixon is joint 3rd top tackler in the league , he did 35 tackles and 17 carries on Friday top in both categories.
Quote on Ashurst : As you say he makes plenty of tackles, but also misses plenty as well.
The missed tackle count can be a bit misleading as the tackle they miss may not be that players to make but they are trying to plug the gap created by another player. If they don’t attempt to make the tackle then it will not flag up as being a missed tackle.

| But Farrell is mainly just a workhorse. An incredible workhorse but certainly not electric everytime he touches the ball or big hitting

| When you signed Matty Ashurst i remember posting on here that you had signed a good player,He was never really given a chance by Royce Simmonds at saints after thriving under potter and that is why he left,i saw the highlights of the Wakefield game and Matty had a hand in 3 of your tries, a great break , then a superb backhanded offload and then a great pass out that created space outside. As a Wigan fan i have to say that currently Faz is the stand out 2nd rower in SL, but i'm also sure that Matty Ashurst and Andrew Dixon can put themselves up there and get noticed if they have some more quality around them

I don't think so.
If he carries on as he is he'll walk man of steel.

226 tackles and none missed is an incredible stat alone. Then add his metres.
