| My apologies for setting up another thread regarding Phil's sacking, but looking for some quotes from fans for this tuesday's Fans Forum Column in the Manchester Evening News.
Did Phil get a fair crack of the whip?
Had the job become to big for him through a change of ownership?
What kind of coach do the fans want to see put in place?
Any names in particular?
If I can get some replies before tomorrow morning I'll try and include the best ones. Can also provide them to me on twitter: @JohnKJArcher
Thanks
John

| I thought last year our gameplay was abit of an unknown and was executed very well with the players we had, now teams have cottened on to how we play, it was also made easier with players like patten and holdsworth, now they have gone and the team is/will be in a totally different shape and I don't think Vievers had the technical know how to alter the teams playing pattern. We're just trying the same tricks as last year and it isn't work due to the team not having the same qualities as last year, I'd of thought Veivers would if played it abit more simple and concentrated on defence more but as the first 5 matches showed he got it totally wrong.
I'd like to see a big name coach like Tim Sheens or Stephen Kearney as their the type if people who will attract the big name players.

| 1) Yes. Taking last seasons results into account as well it was always inevitable. Winning 1 in 10 games isn't good enough. Its a results driven business and the results don't lie. Phil always stuck by us but what was his alternative? He didn't have one, Phil wasn't going to get a job anywhere else. Why should we be happy with Phil as head coach anyway he only got the job through the whole Parish shenanigans, he wasn't deemed good enough to be appointed in the first place so why was he after? Fans also have a massive go at Murphy at full back it's Vievers that selects the team not Murphy. The same goes with picking Howarth over Owen, playing Liam Foran who has been in the country for a day and will not know his team mates names, never mind set plays. Poor Management. Phil would of been sacked at the end of the season anyway no point in waiting around now the new coach when he arrives will be able to assemble his own squad for next year.
2) With the change of ownership yes the job was to big. Why would Marwan settle for second best when he has the money to buy the best? If we want the best players to come we need the best coaching set up.
3) John Cartwright or Tim Sheens.

| All these SL coaches/;- paragons of virtue coming out of the woodwork labelling Veivers sacking as ' disgraceful '
Smith - Anderson - Cummins , probably others ,
They didn't care that much for his welfare when they were busy ransacking his squad for what quality players we had in last few years , and they were also pretty silent when the club was helpless on the rocks in the close season .
Hypocrites the lot of 'em .
Quote: disgraceful "Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson branded Veivers' sacking as "disgraceful", adding on Sky Sports News
So Graham Lowe - Ed Farish & Andrew Chalmers have no history in the game of RL ?
Rash no , Decisive yes ,unfortunately for Phil Veivers his card was marked the day they new directors walked in , they've assessed the playing & admin structure and already stated it needs overhaulling from top to bottom , why persist with squad building with a coach in charge they were 99% likely to change at the end of the season anyway ?
We've had a Chairman who for the previous three decades had stuck by head coaches who were clearly not up to the job , ' cos he was a honourable man . Now we have a Chairman who quite frankly is ruthless in his pursuit of success,
lets have a vote on who we'd rather have .

| Theres no room for sentiment in sport. The Dr will not have made the decision without advice from the EXPIERIENCED backroom staff he has assembled. So lets see what happens when all these coaches have a bad run at there own clubs and how loyal their Chairmen will be.

| Salford City Reds are the sleeping giant of rugby league and to turn the club round and put structures in place to become a succesful club competing for titles and trophies IS the biggest job in Rugby league
At clubs who have success glittered though their history or are currently enjoying success have / had structures in place to make it so. At salford there is no succesful structure in place it needs building up a root and branch reconstruction.
i have faith in Dr Marwan Koukash will with the help of his advisors running the club will get the right man for the job, it wont be easy and it will take time but to have a successful competitive salford city reds at the end of it is all what us fans and the Doctor wants

| Did Phil get a fair crack of the whip?
Probably not given that during his 15 months in charge he has had to deal with so much change. Firstly taking over Parish's squad, then when he had a chance to mould a team and bring in his own men the money ran out. However one thing that cannot be denied is that during the whole episode he has acted with the upmost respect and dignity. I do feel though that he set himself up for a fall by stating that Long was in charge of the attacking aspect of the team. This meant longy takes all the credit every time we score and whenever we conceded it was always Vievers’ fault! But to be honest we have been on a bad run and conceded far too many points to get even within breathing distance of winning matches.
Had the job become to big for him through a change of ownership? Yes, The Dr will want have wanted his own man in since he bought the club. Phil just doesn't have a big enough profile for the club now, The Dr wants a big name in who can help attract these players that we are aiming at signing.
What kind of coach do the fans want to see put in place? I think it has to be a big name really as this is what the Dr orders
Any names in particular? Its going to be either Sheens or Kearney

Yeah. The idea of the Fan's Forum was to sair a fan's opinion on the week's rugby league talking points. After the news broke on Sunday, this was the obvious talking point.
It was also my idea to get some opinion off Salford fans and include it in there, without much notice (hence this thread).
Hopefully I managed to give a well balanced viewpoint. Sorry if you or anyone else think I didn't.
