Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success
Friday 4th January 2013, may not figure as a significant date in the future annual report from Salford City Reds RLFC but what i will be remembered for the night the Salford faithful found their togetherness and voice once more.
The idea for the Save Our Salford fundraiser was only 5 days in the making and in all honestly took a Herculean effort to pull off, more so due to the fact it was days after not only the festive celebrations but also at a time of year when money is to many a figment of the imagination.
When I initially sat down to plan the event in question, I honestly felt that at the most it would merely be an opportunity to raise awareness of the encroaching threat of financial combustion.
As you would of seen from my previous report from the Emergency meeting called by club chairman John Wilkinson OBE ;
mscityredgirl.wordpress.com/2012 ... f-salford/ that the upcoming month would be the most crucial of times in our clubs long and proud history.
I could of course go into detail about the current financial difficulties facing the club, but this blog is to focus on the positives and phenomenal response our rallying cry had from not only the Rugby League community but non rugby league supporting people.
Last night was an absolute triumph , this opinion isn’t just my personal view but was also acclaimed as such by a galaxy of former Salford legends such as , Stuart Littler ,Andy Gregory,Mark Lee,Esene Faimalo, Lokeni Savelo,Ian Blease,Stefan Ratchford , Andy Burgess and Ian Sibitt .
Once the Winner’s of the auctions pay , the toal raised last night will be over £3000
@stuartlittler3: @MsCityRedGirl well done Lou. Awesome x
@steWild13: Great turn out at the fundraising event tonight
Well done tonight Louise you done the club proud xx
The entire first team squad should be commended for attending at such short notice . The lads were true gentlemen ,not only donating money to the cause but by also spending time with the supporters reminiscing ,conversing and smiling in what can wholeheartedly be described as worrying times .
The main attraction of the night was of course the Auction of some truly special items of Memorabilia that was donated by not only former Salford Players,and Supporters but also The RL community and local businesses .
