I have heard along the grapevine that the stadium co wanted to evict Hornets from the outside pitch due to getting a better offer from a football team.Is that correct?

All the decent amateur football teams in the area, and there aint as many as there was back in the day, have their own grounds as far as I know. Do you know which team this is?

I`ll try and make it, two of my family friends played for the Hornets,Mal Reddican RIP,and John Saunders,two great lads.Didnt the Hornets play in the Challenge Cup at Rochdale in 1999 or 2000?Forgive me but i cannot remember who they played,and i was there.

Dont think they played at Rochdale, they have played at Station Rd and the other was a Yorkshire club I think around that era.

I don't recall Malcolm or John playing for Irlam Hornets. I know they both played for Eccles, and then Langworthy.
