think next year the club need to clamp down on the players using twitter to slag off the club. Holdsworth has retweeted an article about the 'poor finances of salford' from the Salford Star...which the club have actually denied on facebook as being genuine. This may not seem an issue but to me it signals his negative attitude and also it enhances the rumours that spread.

funny how diffrent the world of a sportsman is from normal working class people who help to pay to watch and contribute to there wages, now if i posted stuff up about the company i work for and many others would expect a warning and possible sacking due to putting the company in disrepute how are players get away with this is beyond me plus it makes them look bad as there slagging the club we love off and putting more negative feelings towards it.

how ever talented Holdsworth is on his day, pattern being one best attacking fullbacks i have seen at this club but is then the worst defensive full back i have seen also i am happy they are both leaving as these two are big on slagging the club there employer off and am sure have a effect on other players.

also gleeson if it was him starting fights with fans

Salford have been very poor with regards to twitter this year as they do not seem to use there own account and are more focused on Facebook but a quick memo/meeting with players warning them on things they post regarding the club, commenting on fans etc any new players when they have there induction a little section put in contracts etc regarding twitter

The difference for me is that Patten has said it how he sees it... and how he sees it is how a lot of disgruntled supporters have seen it.

Holdsworth is one for just causing trouble and has done everything he can to do that. How he has even dared to put a Salford shirt next to his skin at times is beyond me... and I feel insulted that he has done so.

As for the whole Twitter thing. It has it's good and bad points. Some players to be fair have been superb with it and given fans opportunity to ask questions and been more than approachable and good natured.... Others have used it in a way that has brought shame onto the club. I don't believe for a minute players should not be allowed to use it, as they do have a right to a personal life... but I think the club need to spend some time writing guidelines and rules that players should adhere to.

I would look at putting players twitter names either in the programme or on the website... or even on their shirts... that way showing it as a club responsibility. Publicise it and put a positive spin on it... and have a social media responsibility section written into their contract where they are held totally responsible.

totally agree, pattern has said thing many people will agree with but still he should of just shut up never ever mentioned hes shocking at defending but maybe he only says what he sees on other things. i for one hope the club would do what you said regarding the shirts, program etc as its free marketing

In fairness, the players must be really pee'd off with with what's going on behind the scenes so i'm lead to believe. With the rubber cheques and not knowing whether your wages are going to be paid on time the following month, rumours of liquidation, etc etc..this would really take effect on your performance attitude and mental state towards your employers, no doubt.

However, I've enjoyed Luke Pattens "say it how he see's it" articles each week instead of the olde manufactured garbage waffle press releases we have to endure of other players each week. The truth has to come out there's already too much silence going on with this club. Thanks Luke for your honest opinions ( yes opinions we all have them remember ) i can understand why you want to get on that big bird home. No hard feelings here icon_thumb.gif

I don't see a problem with retweeting something in the public domain. He himself has not added anything derogatory.
He probably saw it on Loverugbyleague.com site - I shouldn't think he reads this forum - and took it from there.

If he and Patten,or anybody else wish to make life better for others then I think the equivalent can be found in Trade Unions. In the sport at the moment there is this rl1eague3 - Jon Wilkin is chairrl

And you and DI have played your part in setting the rumours off.

Did the chairman run both you and DI over at the same time?
