Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll
when poor swinton scored a try
we had 94urrrrrrrrrr:7891.jpg |

| Why do we need him now? Patten isn't going until the end of the season and we have cover at halfback with Sneyd and Theo Fages. What sort of message is this sending out to our 20's if we are bringing in Aussies who can't make it in the NRL on loan? Maybe they want to see what he's capable of before signing him up full time next season, who knows?
If we're looking to bring in players at this stage of the season, surely it's couple of forwards. Hope this is a nothing story by the MEN.

| I suppose if we are going to bring in a relative unknown who's tearing it up at a lower level then we might as well have a look before committing full time - remember the rave reviews Garen Casey had before we signed him?
Whether we should be bringing in from outside rather than promoting from within is another thing. Though nobody will be complaining if he turns out to be good.

| The French Season finishes this weekend PIA v CARCASSONE Grand Final.
Towers will have no further commitment with Limoux so I presume the Reds are taking a look at him !
What is there to lose, you never know he maybe a good-un

Fully agree, although anyone remember Maxime Greseque (sp?) tearing it up for Pia, went on loan to Wakefield, never even got a look in!
If he is getting rave reviews, this move might be good with both Hull clubs looking for a FB & both with a quota spot available
If he is signed on for next season, then he will already know the club & has the remainder of this season to bed in & get to know his new team mates.
Anyone else think this may mean Smith moving to 9? With Godwin out, I hope Owen is given a run in the side

| Just a thought. Doesn't an Aussie have to have played a certain number of NRL games in the previous season to get a UK work permit? Does the situation change if they come via France?

| Typical Salford!
The under 20's are tearing up trees, we've invested hugely on these players in terms of time and development...............so let's sign an Aussie no-one's even heard of........in a position we don't need.
It's enough to make grown men weep.

176 kl =5'-9'' 81kg = 12s 9lb
According to reports he's been scoring tries for fun..............Must have a bit of pace
But can he tackle ? for every try Patten scores/makes, he gives the same away

Confirmed on the fishal site: www.reds.co.uk/rugby-news/towers ... h-for-reds
Very odd that we've all been raving about getting Fages in yet we sign another young foreigner and everyone complains. As I see it it's a good move from the club ... gives both parties chance to have a look and he also has half a season to learn from a very experienced full back who has performed at the top level. Let's hope he performs as well as the last Aussie full back we brought over on loan.
From me, I'd just to say hi and that I hope he gives us an eye full on the pitch.

It seems signing foreigners is OK as long as they're not Australian.
