Holts Sweet Holts Never Drink on an Empty Head BIGPEV THE ONLY MAN TO GET A REAL INJURY AT THE STOOP:icons39ad_files/4795-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg

After last nights tissue of lies from the Yes campaign they managed to get a majority of the votes with just over 10% of the electorate voting for them. Salford City Reds need to watch out for themselves if the English democrats manage to convince that they would have the best mayor and would cut council tax by 50%, one of their proposals was to get back as soon as possible the money loaned to Salford City Reds for the stadium, to enable part of this cut.

I fear this is very bad news Pev. In fact I'm a bit gutted by the result. Surely a 1 in 5 turnout can't accurately reflect the wishes of the population of Salford, therefore the result shouldn't stand. However, if people can't be d voting results like this happen. Bad times ahead on the premise of reduced council tax which people will buy into. I fear the worst for all services in Salford if these people get their mayor and yes, the Reds. I am however more optimistic for the coming season. Come on Solly!!!

Could we get a situation where a council lead by a Mayor and keen to claw back money from wherever possible may look at selling its interest in a newly constructed sport facility to a wealth owner of a sports club looking for a nicer place to entertain corporate guests?

I just got a chill down my spine reading that... Very worrying thought.

Brian Kennedy has been busy already this year ,
in 2006 it was reported he had amassed a 3250m fortune , so who's going to stop him from taking the 8m portion and doing a ' Stockport ' on us ?

I'd suggest more blinkered worrying.

Think that the club signed a fixed term lease to use the stadium and I'd think that it would be binding.
Has anyone got any definate proof that if Kennedy did buy the stadium we'd be out other than what happened to a local tin pot football team?
No I'd suggest that if he did buy he'd look at it as an oppertunity to invest in a sports team in the heighest division in said sport who are playing in a massive catchment area rather than cannon fodder.

Utter MR

As I mentioned many many times before in numerous stadium threads. If Kennedy gets chance to buy a brand new stadium for what will probs be cost price including a tennant to leach extra cash from. It will mean that Sale have even bigger earning potential to blast RL out of the Manchester area.

Forget all the usual crap you spout about sharing kicking coaches etc......

If it happens we are Fecked big time!!!!!

Exactly,i and many before myself are constantly trying to put our case over,if MR Kennedy wants to buy into Salford stadium he will, end off.If he wants to invest in my club? YES,without a doubt. We can`t stop it,but if it means he has still got interest in that union crap, then NO,NO NO.

Sorry but I fail to see what evidence there is to back that up?, think people are also mixing up purchasing the stadium (not that it will ever happen in the memory of man) and the team. Can you see Wilky selling the club to anyone without the most cast iron gaurantee about it's future?.
I honestly think that if the club make a decent fist of it over the next couple of seasons then someone will come in to buy the club as an investment, Salford with a modicum of sucsess on the field would be a good investment for many but unfortunately for the club it isn't currently as the product on the field isn't attractive enough.

Daz I would say I fail to see where your evidence of him wanting to come onboard is and take the club on as you seem to think will happen. Plus anyone can tell wilky they will look after the club then it up the wall.

Believe me if the new mayor decides as stated previously he wants to cut council tax and recoup the money from the stadium. Kennedy is in a great position to buy a brand new purpose built modern stadia. There's no way that any one at salford would be in a position to buy the ground.
In which case Kennedy's main priority would be to make sale even more successful than the bottom dwelling mediocre rugby league team that has a lease at the ground.

Its my opinion, that the Tories were out in force because they see it as a way to oust Mr Merry, not because they
believe in elected mayor's.We will now have to wait and see who stands,Merry is 7/4 Blears 6/1 Stringer 3/1
and Wilky 20/1 so says Saturday's evening news. What would Pev be, even money.

The same 'tin pot' team that were in the 2nd tier of english football, but since Mr Kennedy and Sale moved in now find themselves as a non league club?
