| With all the debate about the club funds & comments about individual board members contributions, could any one tell us the breakdown of income generated by the club?
What is Salford total revenue! How is it made up & by whom!
1) What income is received from sky TV money!
2) What investment revenue is provided by Salford Council!
3) What revenue is generated by sponsorship!
4) How much do board members put up per season is it a £1 or a million pound!
I have listened to the debate & clearly hear that the board keep the club alive, well I would like to understand the depth the board needs to keep the club alive?
For me there is a clear lack of transparency within the club, I am sure many genuine supporters would actually like to know the percentage short fall made up by board members as this could put an entirely different perspective on our perception.

redgunner, the club is a private limited company, as such it has to file statutory accounts and other information with companies house as well as to tell its shareholders in the annual report what is going on, other than that there is no requirement for "transparency"
If you want to find out more, then go to rlhttps://wck2.companieshouse.gov.ukrl
Enter "SALFORD FOOTBALL CLUB COMPANY (1914)" and search. From the results, select Company Filing History, then select "Accounts for small Co - made up to 30/11/10" and tick the box, pay your fee and you will have the figures you ask for (at least the latest filed) - Easy!!

| I know I can go to companies house but I was trying to gage if anyone already knew the percentage breakdown & how this generated the income of the club.
Going to companies house does not really give that breakdown if it did, we would all by now understand the short fall each season & how much the club is financially supported by the board.
We have talked about how much the directors put into the club in a season, is this amount going up or down? Does anyone know?

| To give you some idea of the support provided (and all this is in the published accounts), the loss carried forward from 2009 was £5,325,589, by the end of 2010 it was £5,816,164 - i.e the actual loss in the year to Nov 2010 was £490,575 and the club finished the year with £877 in the bank having started it with £833, so at least that's 40 quid up!!
The auditors included the following statement in the accounts:
"The company meets its day to day working capital requirements through an overdraft facility, which is repayable on demand, and through the financial support of the directors and their associated companies and pension funds. The directors consider that the company will continue to operate with the agreed facility. The directors have also confirmed that they and their associated companies and pension funds will continue to support the company and will not withdraw their support to the detriment of third party creditors. On that basis, the directors conclude it is appropriate to prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis. "
Which in essence means, if I'm reading it right, the directors are funding the losses that the club sustains and are promising not to withdraw their support. The total creditors (that's the amount owed by the club to all and sundry) is £4,636,220 up from £4,098,961 at the end of 2009
What I have no idea about is how those figures compare with other Superleague clubs - I suspect many (most?) will be in a very similar position, relying on the guarantees and goodwill of their directors to keep them afloat.
BUT what it does show, is that regardless of the ludicrous debacle that has just occurred, the club has been kept afloat by the directors for many years. So for those calling for a change of the board, just ask yourselves who is going to come in and take over those debts and provide those guarantees ?
I know, let's set up a supporters trust, just like Barcelona - if we get 5,000 of us, each to put in a measly £1,000, that's £5 million - that would pay off the creditors - leave us with just about zero to start from, then we could all give bank guarantees that we'd promise the overdraft would be paid, and we'd know we'd only have to dip into our pockets once or twice a year to cover the losses.
Some folk on here need to get real when understanding the issues - yes of course the club could have done better with better players, better coaches, better management BUT at the moment we are where we are and shouting for change without some constructive suggestions is completely and utterly pointless.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| So in simple terms , you are losing around half a million a year at the moment , as BF said , until you find a way , or someone else ? To stand that loss , or increase your income by at least that amount , no change

Because Rugby League is such a high profile game this is very likely to happen, NOT.
In Salford there are a number of multi-millionaires who started off with nearly nothing and built up their
fortunes on the backs of people who thought they could guess the winners of many types of horse racing.
These people with all the money only seem interested in another club that is just up the canal from Barton so if they are not looking to invest in Salford I don't see any other suiters do you?
Investment starts at the bottom, the team play some good rugby and win and the crowds build up providing more money, if the team don't then it is downhill and a white elephant at Barton which will be the home of a Rugby Yawnian club nicely squaring the Circle for Yawnian having a purpose built ground in the home city of William Web Ellis.

Excellent post and Messrs Wardley, Solly, Lance Todd, Eccles, Cavendish and others should learn off by heart before posting again,

| FWIW we have a very strong board especially Mr.Ian Watson who in my eyes would be the perfect candidate for Chairman after Wilky steps down .The main denominators who have stuck like crap to the shoe through every failure is SS and Tarry. They are both accountable, Wilky is too easily led , and it won't be long before more crap hits the fan. All the supporters want is honesty and something to be proud of, at the moment Salford RLFC stinks to the core!
