Hi all,

about 4 weeks ago I was with a mate who said he was watching the Super League Semi Final between Leeds and Warrington.. As I am NOT a footy fan I decided to sit with him and watch the game. I have never followed Rugby or watched a game before and I was hooked.. Loved it.

Since then I have learnt the basic rules enough to half understand a game whilst watching and decided that Salford is my Nearest / Local Super League club and so That's who I will follow.

Now I can't wait to start watching em in the new season.

Meanwhile to wet my appetite I am going to the England V Wales 4Nations game next weekend at Leigh and the England V NZ 4Nations game at Hull on 12th Nov..

Thanks for taking time to read this a014.gif

Welcome aboard fella a few facts you may want to take on board;

We have a notorious firm across the whole of the Rugby League.

Away days are 1st train out last train home. Dress Code applies.

We have a large from the north east who loves his pies. And his Mrs has the name of a certain Larger.

Don't listen to Ex Salford Uni no one else does.

We hate everyone especially Warrington/Swinton.

Good lesson for Ian here - Warrington fans do tend to be a [iwee[/i bit further along the bellend spectrum than normal people.

Yep id say Beating wigan in 1996 and giving saints a game, 2 challenge cup semis in 1997 and 1998, promotion in 2003,2008 and a playoff season in 2006 were ups

Then Relegation in 2002, 2007 and getting beat v Leigh in the mud at Hilton park in 1999? were lows

I rather yo-yo between agory and extacy (even in this fanchise system as long as we dont drop out into the no mans land of the NFP) than do a wire and just be steady eddie for years and years and years, yes they are in their "glory years" now but did they reaily have bad bad times?
i feel WHEN salford get a crack at the big time and experince winning a major trophy us the fans who have been there when it was bad...real bad.....and even worse will saver it more than if we had just plodded round mid table too good to go down but not good enough to compete for our whole existance.

Im looking forward to the coming season and the new chapter which is about to be written in the history of salford city reds, its very rare you get to experience such wholesale positive changes, im glad the club finally took the bullet and moved to Barton its time for the talking to stop and the performing both on and off the field (both playing and admin side) to step up and make a difference

Im sure IanC2601 and other new fans generated by our move to Barton will get sucked in like the rest of us did if they are in it for the right reasons will stay, experience the highs and lows of following salford city reds you dont expect to win every week, but you go because us fans we are all in this together, ive met some weird and wonderful people watching salford all over the world and in a way its one of main reason i still go if im honest and you know when it clicks it clicks and the Red shirts can produce performances which makes all the dull, frustrating weeks worth it.

As for having a "notorious firm" what is this 1985? next you will be telling us you drop calling cards on victims, yes we are a bit rough round the edges and when we look like we are about to achieve somthing the numpties turn up on mass and make a show but any new fans reading this i wouldnt worry, if we got good and starting achieving stuff on a regular basis, the club would identify them and they would be binned, the club arnt mugs when it comes to waving banning orders / final warnings

As for 1st train out last train back back in the glory days when it was all good honest fun id agree fully.

Sweet.

One in all in is the motto, its all about having each others backs covered. The calling card is actually being worked on something along the lines of " You were visited by the notorious Red Army" any sugestions would be welcum innit. The news fans have nothing to worry about our kid and are very welcome.

1st train out last train home is for the real men you see all these people who use to give it large ones and when they get a slag, or have a kid you don't see them again they may as well be brown bred.

Safe anyway "the optimist" nice talking to you fella and hearing about the stories of the "85" firm.
