Surely it has to be the late great Lancelot Beaumont Todd. Lets look at his record;

Championship Winner = 193/33, 1936/37, 1938/39.
Runner Up = 1933/34

Challenge Cup Winner = 1938
Runner Up = 1939

Lancashire Cup Winner = 1931, 1934, 1935, 1936.
Runner Up = 1929, 1938

Lancashire League Winner = 1932/33, 1933/34, 1934/35, 1936/37, 1938,39.
Runner Up = 1929/30, 1939/40.

Only twice did we finish lower than 5th during 13 seasons let's not forget he /we beat the Aussies twice. Toddy Toddlers aka The Red Devils our greatest team and Manager in history!

Other than that in my lifetime there hasn't been much to go on but I'd say we played some wonderful rugby under Gregory and for me it was just a pity he had 'issues' or we could have had a coach that could have taken us places.
