| I know its a topic thats been covered before but I cant believe that some kind of commemorative game isnt being organised for the final game at your historic home.If as seems likely Catalan Dragons will be the final game at the Willows im sure it will be a great occasion but surely something with a little more imagination would be more fitting. As Swinton were your first opponents at the Willows surely it would be fitting if they were your last. Both sides could play in a special commerative strip similar to those worn in the very first game, these could be auctioned off for charity after the match and a limited number could be made available for fans.A number of past players could also take part in the game itself using masters rules whereby age dictates the level of contact involved.

32990_1435324474.jpg First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32990.jpg |

| Just to expand on the above . . .
Why not give the Willows a massive send off after Catalan by having a special charity match v Swinton over Christmas with the gate money (less costs going to several local Salford charities that actively promote the event. It could be a celebration of rugby league in Salford over the past 100+ years. Make it £10 adults and £5 kids. Get all the other local amatuer sports clubs involved and ask every Salford celeb to attend the event. Get some celebs to have a footie match at half-time (Coronation Street cast etc) Perhaps ask Russel Watson and the BBC philomonic orchestra to do the pre-match entertainment? Get the schools involved also, why not do a draw on the pitch where a school can win £2000. (One entry in the draw for each kid from the school they attend, do the draw at half-time) Then have a big firework display at full-time.
Wouldn't it be great to see the place full to capacity with the money going to great causes in Salford? I'm sure the Salford Advertiser would fully support it and give it months of exposure leading up to the event. It would be great PR for the club and could also help to attract some new support.
If the capacity is 11,000 and the mix between adults and kids was say 50% that would bring in £82,500. I'm sure with some corporate sponsorship it could raise over 100K.

| Great idea but what exactly is happening to The Willows when you vacate? Nobody seems to know for certain. Will they demolish the ground immediately?

He is. Unfortunately his music is usually a little "challenging" to say the least.....

| just as a point of interest, is there any possibility of the last game at the Willows not being our game V Les Catalans, and it actually involved Swinton involved in any play offs? How bad would that be for us...
Does anyone know what their division play off dates might be?

It was up to Paul to sort out a game for his testimonial & approach the club for them to organise it, so it was in Paul's hands to get the ball rolling .

So he gives all them years of service to the club then he has to get off this back side and arrange everything? That's Salford all over, don't know why I'm surprised.

| Rumour has it that the club are seeing if they can get a game against new Zealand or Australia as a warm up game for the four nations which would certainly be a fitting game to see the end of the Willows

I am a big fan of Paul Highton's but didn't he have a testimonial committee who looked after his twelve month of fund raising?
I was at a meeting when Paul was asked about his testimonial game and his reply was that it was being organised.
I cannot believe that the club are being criticized over this, what next?
