| Ok then we are 5 games into the season(that we started full of hope of a top 8 finish!),i like many onm here have been to all 5 games so far,and am not to down beat about having to miss fridays game at home to hull kr due to family duties!
I am scratching my head after just watching the latest round of fixture highlights on the bbc iplayer and wondering where as a team we seem to be going wrong, especially when the likes of cas and quinns (who we should at least be on a par with) are doing so well!...lets all be honest,we have tried putting the blame on mr mcrae and in a way rightly so!! But does the problem we have lurk deeper than we might think???......why does it seemed promising players other the last few years that we have seen at the club either at academy grade or full first team level not seem to be upto the task???.......why do we seem to be easily the un-fittest team in the league???........we have shipped 182 points in 5 games at an average of 36.4 points a game and simply seem to throw the towel in a lot of the time,,,why??.......now with the most over rated player i.m.o that we signed out injured ,along with 3 other crooks yet to pull on a reds jersey are the club prepared to answer some serious questions in that we have been done over,or is it a case of bad luck????............we are all mugs if we seriously think we are top 8 material,we have won once against the team who will prob finish bottom of the pile,we are now well into the season and after our 2 previous seasons since awarded our license we seriously seem to be in no better position as a team playing wise as we were the day we were awarded our franchise!!! yes the club in ways has done brilliantly off the field in a lot of areas,BUT surely as fans what we all want to see is more positive things pitch side as thats what we all shed our hard earnt wages on week in week out!!!!..........I am seriously worried that far to many players on our books simply see the club we all love and worship,as somewhere that they can go to work and earn a wage and not really give a flying monkeys if they are selected to play,in the reserves or injured!!!.........answers and views on a postcard please !!

| You could argue that out of the 5 games played we should be only two points better off, I think the HKR game is massive, as we should with home advantage be looking to secure our first home win.
I am not optimistic about a victory on Friday night & I think Friday will reveal a little bit more, as someone said on a previous thread we are still clinging to the fact we have played St Helens, Wigan & Leeds & although this is correct the worry is the margin & how we have been beaten, apart from the Wigan game where for long periods we matched up to Wigan in every department.
I tend to look on other sites after we have played & see the comments from opposition supports, which are quite negative about our team being poor, sometimes we are too close to see what other see.
Finally how I see it, having supported Salford since the mid 70s we are in for one long frustrated season yet again.

| the truth is simple.....we are a club....a company that is being run digracefully from top to bottom - and that includes absoultely everyone. What club - in any sport, would allow their assets - which is what they are, to be so out of condition and so utterly unfamilier with each other? How many defensive errors have we seen this season - players banging into each other - soft penalties - total un organisation, sure we look OK going forward - but nothing overly special. What professional outfit would allow injured players through flimsy medicals? To even start thinking about competing in this league our whole profile from top to bottom needs changing, we are an utter disgrace - a laughing stock. We are a proud club, a proud city who deserve a decent professional team and until we ring the changes it will never happen.....

They are there to earn a wage and work and will never see things like your die hard supporters, however getting the best out of your players/workforce is surely down to the people that manage them and at this club we are second rate in that department.Having little depth in our squad does'nt help, there is little competition for places therefore the none performers get picked week after week and lets be honest there are plenty of them atm.
I am seriously frustrated with how things are going, there is nothing to attract new supporters to our great club at all. There is no momentum ,either with results or attendances.Thats got to be a big worry heading to the new stadium.
We need somebody to come in and shake this team up and we need it soon!.

| If we gave the kids a go we would destroy them at this level, we need to get the coaching right, we keep saying the same things but some of the players just don't seem motivated enough.
Alker great player he was, does not mean he his ready to be a top coach, I am not having a go but Alker he would have been better with a clean break & so would Salford.
I think we have some good players but with the coach away on sick leave, Alker too close to the players, having 12 months ago been a player himself, SS being a technical director & Phil Veivers being away in Aussie does not fit well as great preparation for the last season at the willows & you ask why we don't look as though we are a team who have or can play together.

| I don't really know what to think if im honest. Yes the players are the ones missing the tackles and making mistakes and they need to take responsibility for that, but there is defo a problem that lies deeper at the club, for years ( i know we haven't the luxury of spending the full cap) we have constantly been let down by the players and staff right across the board weather that be coaches or even just the staff who work in the club shop etc im not going to go into depth on the admin side of stuff as credit to them they have done some good work with the website, facebook etc but its quite obvious for all to see as a professional organization if we want to go forward we need to get some knew people on board, i don't want to sound to harsh on these people but just because they have close connections to salford doesn't give them the right to earn a living out of it, sport is a businesses these days and we need to start running it like one.
Why Mr Wilkinson ever give McRae a 4 & half year contract im sure is agreed is a mystery he is to soft and that is his downfall. I think its fair to say no matter who we have signed over the seasons coaches we have brought in we have always been a joke, (apart from that 1 season) but How can a team go from finishing 5th in the League to getting relegated the season after it doesn't happen unless something is going wrong in the camp. Why did we give Alker a contract as coach? Wasn't it only the season or so before he was being stripped of the captaincy and now hes in charge of the boys. By the way i was never one of those Alker haters or lovers i appreciate what he did for the club over the years but at the same time i have to ask myself could any other hooker make the 40 or so tackles he made a game? after all were always defending. I know know this may sound daft but there's another example of how someone connected to the club is offered a job, whats wrong with change?
Why do our youngsters not seem to make progress? Sidlow has gone backwards, Ratchford was played on the wing last year if im a young lad and my position is stand off and im getting shoved out on the wing id be pis*sed of playing him in the right position this year has shown how good he actually can be. Adamson / Jewitt dare i say it if they were in a different squad would have progressed more than where they are at now.( i cant be sure but id take a good guess at it)
Before i go on anymore KR is a must win game to get some confidence in the team, ive heard people saying o im not expecting a win against KR ffs people its a home game, its the last season at the willows why cant we as home fans be expecting a result, if we are going into home games being happy with a loss (fair enough for the likes of the wigans etc) then were never going to get anywhere am i asking for to much when i say i want a win of KR or i wont be happy? Look where they were a few years ago why cant we move forward like that. As much as i will miss the "Old Lady" this stadium cant come quick enough for us we have been round weaste for a long long time and change is needed, hopefully this new stadium can attract new support and get the old fans back as we can hardly attract 4,000 home species atm.
Im sorry if i have put you all to sleep on this, just had to get it out!

| I think there are a number of things contributing to our downfall at present, our coach has gone off sick after a poor start to the season, we have players who we signed injured / are injured so without these bodies lack the depth to create competition.
We are unable to utilise our assets ( Feka, rachford, Holdsworth) correctly we seem to just want to play one up rugby league and not want to test ourselves or our opponents.
Mentally we are all at sea, we always conceed just before and after half time regardless who we play or were we play, conceed at this important period and its a massive up hill battle to get anything from the game.
Defensively our edges our unprotected, our defensive line conceeds to much ground before and after contact and we get bullied on regular basis even tho we have better players
I wouldn't highlight these problems if I didn't have faith in the current playing staff and coaching staff to tun it round

| People say they have had there eyes opened this season then go onto to hope/pray & point out Friday is a must win game! They've been must win for a long time, and that's the point. Look at the top teams. It's in all the little things they do. They crawl across the floor in the tackle to get that extra yard. They work so hard for one another they push and push and push, and you know why. From 15 it's drilled into them by the club. From academy to first team, and any imports who don't follow this attitude don't last long. Theres a age old phrase. FIT IN... OR F*** OFF.
Now blame this on our coaching staff in any department you like, But what matters is now, as time goes on and this becomes more apparent, what is done about it. Will the coaching staff change. Will there be a shake up in the squad. Will fines or punishments be enforced.
What did grab my attention on Friday was the lack of R Parker. Now this guy has been on form in patches but as soon as SM disappeared he was left out. Someone somewhere has made note of his, let's say, professionalism/fitness or lack of, as it were, and done something about it.
What I can see which no ones rearly commented on is our improvement in geling as a team. Out centres and fullback especially. Essentially going forward But when we need to be organised. When it comes to a point in a game when we need to rely on instructions and orders and co-ordinated organisation were lost. We don't know what to do. We let teams like Leeds who can throw the ball around, play there rugby around us. We let teams like Saints who are fast around play the ball, fly thru our line and make ridiculous yardage. We let teams like Wigan who are powerful, bully us in the tackle and dominate our game.
I can count on 2 hands how many times we dominated Leeds in all our tackles made on Friday. They dominate which in turn drains a players energy which in turn slows the play the ball. Simple. I can see that. I'm not a coach. I know a fraction of what I hope is known by those in charge. Yet why after 5 games in has nothing changed. Ok if the players aren't strong enough why not get an extra man In the tackle when we can. Others do.
And that's my point. Nothing is ever addressed nor rectified. Why? Does no one care enough?
I to sum up I see our attack improving but not our defence. Why? Because we don't have anyone to do that. Or do a half decent job in that area. The last person who did was Karl in 2006.
Don't get me wrong. We should only have one more win than we do but like everyone it's the manor that shocks me.
I' can only see us beating Bradford in the next 5. Hey who knows. They might shake things down in 5 games time.
