On Friday against Leeds , am i correct in saying we possibly had our best 17 available (Barring our 2 crocked 2nd rowers Bailey/Anderson). For the 1st time this season we had Cashmere , Boyle , Godwin , Ratchford , Holdsworth , Smith etc all in the same team. Is Leeds really the best place to go , with possibly our best squad for the 1st time?? My concerns are what Steve Simms said after the game "we need to play for 80 mins" ffs thats not rocket science to work out!! I deffo think this is a fitness issue with the squad , closely followed by confidence. I do feel most of our squad could play in other super league teams hence should be able to play together with us.
For the record , I used to play rugby league for the college i attended after playing for the footie team. I went to their circuit training and ached like mad for the rest of the week. We were also given specific instructions on working in sets of 3 when attacking and defending. We got battered for the 1st 4 games , got better and eventually finished joint 2nd in the league and to the semis of the cup ( I finished college after that season so i dont know what happened after
).
The point im making is everyone at the club need to stick together. The players do have a big responsibility to do the business. At the same time the coaching/ fitness levels need to be well maintained too. I have always had my doubts about SM since day one ( didnt he slag us off on sky a good few years back
) All the other teams look miles fitter than us . Any views
