Beaten comprehensively by a makeshift reserve team; beginning to look like a long hard season for the Reds.
It seems our fitness levels are way off. Can't blame the heavy pitch at Belle Vue, just watched wakefield put a gritty performance in against Wire.

We need to get much fitter and quick.

were we beat before we got on the coach, it seems we are still a long way from being consistent and also being able to play as a good team. icon_cry.gif

We were competitive for 40 minutes tonight and that isn't enough at SL . They had so much more left in the tank for the last 20 minutes . We played some of the best rugby I've ever seen us play in the first half we just weren't clinical enough near the line ! Cashmere good again , Henry had a strong game . Feka , one 12/13 minute spell ! Waste of a jersey ! Where was Parker ? DJ needs to take on the line a little more an stop trying to keep his shorts clean and Adamson sure knows how to null a promising attack . A good night , until 8.40pm , nightmare there after.

this is what the now big man says

Simms: We Need To Compete For 80 Mins

While many would argue the 46-12 defeat at Headingley on Friday night was perhaps a little harsh on the Reds, Director of Football Steve Simms admitted after the game: "It's an 80-minute game and we really have to start playing for the full 80 minutes.

"Good teams play all the time and we competed for 10 to 15 minutes of the second half but then Leeds got hot and started throwing the ball around.

"All their quality players shone through and Headingley is not the sort of place you want to come after Leeds have lost two on the bounce."

The defeat means the Reds need to go into their home game with Hull KR next Friday at The Willows in need of a victory to get their season back on track.

IF WIDNES DESERVE A PLACE IN SUPER LEAGUE.......THEN THE POPE IS JEWISH!:33469.jpg

Not good enough,to soft in forwards, concentration levels poor, speed and fitness prob worst in league at present, feka shouldnt pull a reds shirt on again untill he has lost 2 stone!! How can a side go from being in the game a showing decent signs in attack and losing 18-12 at half time end up being spanked like we did tonight?? answers on a post card!!

From a Leeds point of view I have never seen Sinfield have a game like that before. He systematically took you to peices with little short passes at all angles. He took the line on brilliantly when needed and always managed to get the ball free. If he hadnt played we wouldnt have scored half the points we did.

Thats easy.We miss endless amounts of tackles, have no slidding defence ,can't defend our line and are not fit enough.Lots to work on then!

i used to think it was Mcrae's half time team talks that lost us the games when we were going in at half time still in the game!

Maybe we need a complete change in the staff. McRae,Simms,Alker (should never of stayed within the club), Fitness coach. But typical Salford we'll come out next week against Hull KR play well maybe snatch a win and all will be forgotten for some folk. Couldnt go last nights game but to get beat by that margin, ok it was at leeds not the best place to go but with the players they had out and with us at pretty much full strength is poor very poor!!!!!!

Ken Gill could make the ball talk.:

I also thought Kevin Sinfield dominated the game and was a class apart. He was involved in everything that was good about Leeds. If he had been wearing a Salford shirt it could well have been a different story.

I thought we were unlucky to go in behind at half time. Palea'aseena's lack of mobility defensively was exposed twice in a few minutes and we shipped in twelve points. But, both Ratchford and Sidlow had real chances to score and should both have doubled their try tallies. We played an expansive game for forty minutes and were in with a shout at half time.

What I still can't understand is what went wrong in the second half. I don't believe we're unfit. The effort was there for all to see, but as Leeds grew in confidence and started to play seven a side stuff we were blown away. Up the middle we defended well I thought but their offloads, speed of passing and movement off the ball destroyed us.

After half time we must only have had about 35% of the ball, and I am not sure whether we completed more than a couple of sets.

What was the difference between the two halves? How did a team that competed so well for forty minutes become the team that looked lost for much of the second half?

Highlighted those score because I'm becoming more increasingly annoyed with our inability to defend after the opposition score. This has been a problem for many years but if we look at this season, it happened at Cardiff, same against St Helens too but that was to an extreme extent running in tries for fun! Wigan last week, not quite sure to be honest. Last night again! I think this is a seriously problem our inability to defend after the opposition scores, is it a confidence issue that has been rife for all these years? Or is still a fitness issue after we been through all these conditioners. Can’t help thinking back to the Rhino years, defence was solid never chucked in the towel and always seemed to win the close games!
