are we that silly that we are going to chase aussies who are well past there best!!! this is absolute crazy if its the case. id like to see the stats on the amount of aussie/kiwis in super league. what percentage of players are english? how are we ever going to develop the youngsters when the easy fix is to buy an ex good footballer. all clubs need to look at the big picture. not the short term!!!!! Hope we dont fall into the category!!!

I fully understand your point. But you can develop youngsters and also have aussies in the team at the same time. If were attracting players like Andrew Ryan and other top notch aussies then I dont mind them coming over

With all respect, this is about the Club making a big push on the pitch for the last season at the Willows. With the new ground coming along, what the Club needs is a good run in SL to cement their credentials. A more competitive Salford means more fans, more fans mean more money. I wouldn't say the forward we are linked too is a past-it waste of time, and as far as Development of our own youngsters, players of this calibre are invaluable. We have a good record of bringing in good experience. Cartwright, Hancock, Stapo etc None of these gave anything less than 100%

I think maybe the blinkers are on for some people...

I fully understand your point of view but a player of the calibre and experience of Andrew Ryan can improve Salford and enhance SL in my view. I think you also have to consider what a player like this can do off the field in terms of helping younger players develop.

There is a problem that SL now has over 45 players over 30 years old from overseas and personally I feel it should be restricted to a maximum of two per club!

As KOTS so very rightly says think this is a Cartwright moment waiting to happen, i've said all season the one thing we are missing is a gnarled forward who will add that bit of steal that I think we have lacked this season since Stapo shuffled off. Can you see Dean Widders not getting clattered after the first couple of breaks on Sunday to discourage him??

What I don't want to see is a return to the bad old days of getting 34 and 35 year old Aussies with no intention of doing anything other than topping up thier pension, the names who are being bandied about currently hardly fit into that catagory.
