Perhaps the refs observer in the stands put something in his report that could be used as mitigating circumstances etc

Exactly. Whilst I believe that players in all sports should show respect to officials isn't it about time that respect was earned. Referees are answerable to no-one and players get banned for eventually losing their cool. Its getting beyond a joke. Maybe the TV game is a way of stopping him making so many errors as it can be looked at.

As for Stapo, he deserves a ban regardless of the performance of the ref.

He may have helped his cause by visiting the ref immediately and apologsing.

I was thinking that myself, good to see a refereeing error causing a matching winning try, but decitons dont effect matches or result do they............

Anyway i was thinking wouldnt it be good if we could see the officials reports after each game from the examiner in the crowd, would be well worth a read.
