DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF STAPO HAS BEEN SUSPENDED FOR BEING SENT OFF AS I THINK IT WILL BE HIGHLY UNFAIR DUE TO BENTHAMS BENT PERFORMANCE?

Assume he'll be up in front of the RFL disciplinary tomorrow (Tuesday).

Strongly suspect he'll be banned though.

Depending upon what he actually said, we may have seen him play his last game in a Reds shirt

I can't see for the life of me that Craig Stapleton won't get some sort of a ban and hopefully this will be a lesson for all players in the future not just at Salford City Reds but at every club in the game.

Emotions were running high last Friday night at the Willows but in the cold light of the day abuse to any match day official can not tolerated full stop.

I expected the RFL to fine 'Stapo' at least £200 and with a bit of luck he will only get one match.

They do tend to give larger bans for this kind of sending off. Holroyd got about 5 matches earlier in the season but I think he persistently made comments on several occasions during the game. Stapo made a comment as he walked past Bentham. There will probably be a ban but I would be surprised if it was as severe but you never know as we don't really know what was said.

HE PUTS THE BENT IN BENTHAM ALRIGHT

Unfortunately, this was not "as he was passing the ref" he made a point of going right up to him to make is point, he was clearly annoyed at the result and the refs performance.
We do all know the rules though, and when it comes to ref displays, you just have to take the rough with the smooth.
I would be disappointed if we didnt get to see him in a Salford shirt again though.

in another sport Ballack punched and shouted at a referee on TV in a massive semi final and got nothing, I expect a two match ban and a warning about about future conduct for Mr BENTham as for Stapo it could have been his last game for Salford.

So when do we get the smooth cause i've been watching salford for 5 years not and there has been a hell of alot of rough
(refs decision wise)

Had a quick look on the RFL's website and it says he will be given between a 1-4 game ban, the decision is being made today but there's nothing on there yet.

Alker and Nash also had incidents from Friday's game that were looked at but neither were charged.

STAPLETON BANNED

Salford's Craig Stapleton has been suspended for one match after being sent off for foul and abusive language following his side's defeat by Catalans Dragons last Friday.

Prop Stapleton, who has also been fined £300, was dismissed by referee Phil Bentham for comments made soon after the final hooter of the engage Super League clash at The Willows.

Salford were beaten 18-16 after a last-minute try from Casey McGuire.

Stapleton, 30, who is leaving the club at the end of the season, will miss the Reds' trip to Harlequins on Saturday.

Coach Shaun McRae said: "We don't condone it any way. You can think what you want, but don't say it."

Think hes very fortunate to be honest. Could have been 4.

Here's hoping 'Stapo' finishes the season on a high now before he returns home.

As I have eluded to on another thread, I can't condone what Stapo said but is it not about time refs were also made answerable. Bentham was awful on Friday and yet he is not answerable to anyone. This is his job. Is it not time he was made to get better at it or face disciplinary action like the rest of us would.
