| Friday night home games won't help the crowd. If this game would have been played this Sunday at least another 400/500 Cas fans would have come over. M62 on a Friday night is no joke.
I'm not a fan at all of Friday night games. Should only play on a Friday if you are the televised game.

| I'm sick and tired of people moaning about the size of the crowd. Saints and Wigan only attracted 11,000 last night. Hardly Nou Camp proportions is it.
I'm sure that if we continue to make positive steps forward on the field, together with the new stadium we can attract more support.
I'm just happy to see the Team competing again. The scoreboard, NOT attendance figures is what counts.

[iIT does effects away fans from attending for sure.
Also I know of quite a few Salford fans that stayed at home / pub last night to watch SKY Sports and at the same time tune into Manchester Radio.
Or do you know of the main reason why we can't get bigger gates at the Willows these days "Ave It" ?[/i

Players out of contract have their contracts to play for.
There is still the play offs to play for though last night has made that more difficult.
Promotion and relegation just gives the better players the option to put their cue in the rack and wait for relegation to exercise the release clause in their contract so that they can go elsewhere. We saw that the last time we were relegated. It is the club that suffers the relegation not the better players.

Mate I know one thing, the fact that Wigan and Saints were playing on sky had absolutely nothing to do with our poor attendance. Fact!

This ones direct to Ave it, have you ever considered spreading the reason why you go to the Willows? Or do you just make the same negative noises that you do on this forum. If we 'the fans' spread a positive message, rather than being negative about the club, maybe the fanbase would start'"
Ermmm because I love the club, I go to support my team and have no complaints about yesterday as I've already said on another thread, the passion and everything was there form the players and they looked genuinely gutted at the end.
And I don't have to project a "negative message" to outsiders the clubs been doing that themselves for years! Hopefully now things will start to change!

| I think the sky games make a small difference. I reckon some people who pick and choose their games are unlikely to fork out £20 for Salford vs Cas in the rain on a Friday night when they can stay in and watch Saints vs Wigan on sky. Sad but true.

| I think we need to drop the price or something. I know there are various offers/membership schemes but a few friends I know wont fork out 20 quid to go to the 'odd game'. 15 quid...maybe.....20 just feels too expensive (certainly when attracting new fans)
Also, I wonder if our fans will be dropping more now as I know some fans will consider it season over now a playoff place is looking doubtful. Us hardcore will of course always be there., but with little to play for (if indeed, our playoff challenge is effectuively over), will less casuals come?
Come on marketing department, need to pull something out of the bag for the rest of the year. Don't just put things on our website cos its only our existing fans who read it. 200,000 just in salford, lots of big companys in the area - get out there and get just 1% of them to come....and that boosts us to 5-6k average

| The text a Salford fan sent into GMR phone in hit the nail on the head, "The Salford Public don't care" and sadly i have to agree with him. Obviously a wining team would help boost attendances but we are in a City where the majority of people couldn't care less about us.

Where the hell did that assumption come from?
Have you never heard of a little thing called 'State of Origin' (SOO)? I'll not explain the whole thing, but it's like the champions league of our sport. In that, the standard is probably higher and more skillful than that at international level. Our new coach is currently an assistant for one of the two teams playing in SOO, the same team that has had its asses handed to it for roughly five years. Matt Parish wants honour his commitment and ensure he does his all to reverse that teams current slide.
So, as stated by the club, recruitment has been put on hold until SOO has finished. Although, it wouldn't surprise me if Steve Simms is already scouting potential recruits for next season.
On the whole Cashmere/Henry debate. I feel Big Ray is worth another year, probably two, Henry on the other hand? If he was English I'd be saying the club should definitely get him signed up. Except with overseas quotas the way they are, I'd say, see who else is available first.

I would certainly put hard cash that JAW & HC paid their own way.
My £50 against one of your UCP Tripe shops.
You do come out with some ill thought out comments.
Have you found anybody to take over the poisoned chalice of running Salford yet? No - thought not.

| If we can't get a decent crowd for a potential winnable game after beating Wire. Then the problem is much more deeply routed than a sky game stopping a thousand people turning up!

| I think the main problem is playing friday night I for one used to have a season ticket and now I can't purchase one because I work shifts and had weekends off. I feel this is one of the reasons for low gates. Travel also creates problems for away support as people can't always get chance to attend every night. Please salfor as a club look at this again. That is my opinion on this matter

| I think the main problem is 30 years of languishing in the doldrums. No doubt the club historians can correct but since the second world war, we have only had a brief period when we were what could be consider a top team likely to challenge for honours. This was the Brian Snape era. When he injected, for the time, vast sums of money we were at the top table. After he stopped spending it too another 6-8 years for those players to finish their careers and by around 79-81 we were on the way down.
Such a long period has resulted in the lack of RL culture and tradition within Salford.

| I left the Willows last Friday fairly upbeat :-
A) it was a great game closely contested.
B) we did lose the game , but only in the last ten minutes, not in the first ten minutes which had been the norm .
C) it took a brilliant piece to class play from their star act
It would have been fantastic had we made it 3 in a row , but win or not it still doesn't hide the fact that our season has been a marketing disaster with the inauspicious 1st half of the campaign.
and the drop off in crowds are a result,
Our new head coach won't be here until mid July
Franchises will be awarded on the 31st July.
some of the input on here is alarmist , lets face it the Salford public in the main has ignored it's RL club for a significant proportion of the 110years down weaste lane. and to me PV has had an inglorious task of guiding us over the past few months.
here's to the future under Matt Parish
