| Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this but isn't Marc Sneyd's agent our former Willows favourite Ian Blease? It was interesting to observe that Ian was a guest and was stood next to the Doc throughout the match with Wigan last week.
It appears Marwan is keeping Bleasey close to him for an obvious reason. If Sneyd is returning from being on loan I think it will be an extended and improved contract offer.

| Pretty sure that we'd be able to offer him the best contract because a significant amount of it wouldn't count with him coming through our academy ranks.
Offer him a 5 year deal and make it clear he's a massive part of the future of the club, I could see him in the future being up there for England/GB honours too.

Is that correct, I though it was for players who had been at the club a number of years, for example at Hull, Horne gets so much of his salary exempt, I not sure it works with academy players or most of the Wigan and Leeds players would have a large amount if salary off the cap.
I may be wrong though.

Well, depends how you look at it. There was supposed to be a review at the start of the season (it was in the same policy review document the structural changes were in), capping homegrown players cap value to 100k (and bring back a semi competitive reserves league), and was supposed to be voted upon and introduced for next season. Unfortunately [isomeone[/i spent the entire meeting trying to talk through "golden tickets" and it never got voted on/ introduced - so now it's kind of in limbo. Last I heard they were trying to arrange another meeting - but that was quite some time ago.
Hopefully it will be brought in at some point, but as of this moment, it's not (and it's a crying shame)

| First time i've seen Marc speak at any length and he comes over as a sensible level headed kid. Its obvious that he's made massive progress under the guidance of the Cas coaching set up and at the moment he is just enjoying the whole Cas experience. He doesn't seem to be in a great rush to alter anything but i think its significant that he couldn't bring himself to mention Salford by name and referred to you dismissively as them. You have to admit that Powell is a fantastic motivator and the secret of that is to get inside the players head and i think he's done that with Marc. We'll have to see, he may put money before enjoying life.

| Firstly, it's good etiquette for any player to appear focused at the task in hand. Not to mention the right attitude for a professional athlete. How many loan players have you heard say 'Well, I'm going back at some point so I'm not really bothered about this Club.' It wouldn't sit well with anyone would it? Reading anything into statements from the player, unless they're statements stating the obvious, like 'I want to stay here.' or 'I'm looking forward to going back.' are pointless.
Secondly, the presumption that he's made 'massive' progress at Cas due to everything at Cas being a land of milk and honey is very short-sighted view. Nearly every Cas fan thought the loan of Sneyd was extremely underwhelming before he'd touched a ball. This shows that not many of you had watched Sneyd at all and how he'd been our stand-out young player for over a season. The only difference in Sneyd then and now is that he's playing in a side at the other end of the table. His game is the same. His abilities have not suddenly boosted beyond what they were before.
Thirdly, can Cas fans please stop presuming they have a direct connection to Marc Sneyd's cerebral cortex. Cas = Happiness, Salford = Misery. Cas = emotional fulfillment, Salford = Greed and sloth. Please stop presuming you know the inner thought processes of another human being.
Surely, by now, the best thing is to enjoy the rest of the season and let the whole thing sort itself out at the end of the season. The constant dissection of language, body language, guessing, wild claims, and general straw-clutching is starting to get embarrassing.
Enjoy the season. The rest will sort itself out.

| The way I see it is Sneyd is contracted to Salford and chances of us (Cas) keeping him are slim unless Marc himself says he wants to move to us and doesn't want to play for Salford. Whatever happens I'm just going to enjoy watching him at Cas for the rest of the season and if he goes back next year I'll admire his talents in a Salford shirt next year. He's a special player that's for sure.

| The very important question that keeps being forgotten is would Castleford be able to afford the rather substantial fee due for a player of Marcs quality.

| I don't know the ins and outs of our finances but with Owen gone and Gilmour likely to leave (they were both on a lot of £ supposedly) then we may have some money to play around with. I'm just happy to enjoy Marcs talents this year and if he goes back next season it'll be thankyou and we will move on.

| This is a huge success for the loan system.
I differ from the view that his talent would have developed anyway.
Thought Theo was the gem that needing polishing and that might well be the case.
Sneyd hasn't just prospered because he's gone into a successful and confident side,he's helped make them so.
I wasn't the least bit bothered to lose him on loan but he's really surprised me so good luck to him.
We obviously want him back but only if he's going to start as first choice, otherwise it's not fair on him

The most sensible post I've read regarding this. I can't believe how many fans from both sides are making themselves look like total fools.

Absolutely spot on in everything you say and correct me if i'm wrong but didn't Marc dig his heels in a bit at the time and say he wasn't happy about coming to Cas. Something has changed his mind as he's said in a local interview that he is "kean" to stay and Powell would have been naive to instigate talks with Salford about retaining him if he hadn't already spoken to Marc about whether he wanted to stay. The butcher makes several good points in an earlier post which includes the one about enjoying the season and seeing how it works out. Maybe we should all take his advice although some how i think it will rumble on.
