Evalds is at least on a par with someone like Jack Owens at Widnes, yet won't feature whilst we bring in championship standard players on loan.

Bit harsh on Lee there saying he's been ineffective. His defence is excellent, suspect in attack hence the signing of Tomkins. I still can't agree Gaz Owen is a better option though at this stage of his career.

I would love nothing more than our youngsters to make it, I still think Evalds will (don't think Owen will) but neither are ready yet for me. There definitely not the answer BUT neither is Michael Platt.

Owen is the best natural number 9 at the club.

The fact you are bringing in loans from other clubs send the wrong message to any young kids you may have, Alex Murphy once said of a young kid " If he's old enough he is good enough" ..... Shaun Edwards !!! Give them kids a break you lot arn't going down so play the youth.

Gutted that sneyd is still under contract with you guys. Think we are working hard to sign him but can't see us splashing big cash. It is worth noting though, whilst he has been good he hasn't been stand out good, just consistent, hard working and an overall good scrum half.

None of our coaches think so well I have absolutely no faith in Harris if the best he can do is sign platt I have never been so embarrassed for a players as when their winger left him for dead if that's the best Harris can come up with I hope he's gone very very soon

I have a horrible feeling that I cannot prove: I feel that the coaches we have had/will have are focused on people they knew from playing with/against rather than the crop of youth we have.

How does Owen, Evalds, etc become good enough: by playing at SL standard. As substitutes to start with and with an agreed development strategy. sadly this is not part of a quick fix methodology.

I cannot see how you can judge such as Owen's readiness to hold down a starting position in SL at the moment. The year long loan may be a good thing for now but I wonder what will happen in October.

That's Sneyd to a tee. He isn't an outstanding individual, but is consistent, does the basics right, has a great kicking game and obviously kicks conversions from anywhere in the pitch.

Firstly,I don't think Wayne Bennett,in a timescale of 3 weeks,could sort out the troubles that Iestyn Harris has inherited.
As transfers sometimes take time to sort out it may be that the loan/dual reg of Evalds was organized before Harris took over.
I am unsure of the differing terms of dual reg and loan but in the Evalds case I believe it is a loan until the end of the season without the possibility of a recall.No one is more upset by that than me.For a number of reasons 1 of which may be beacause of my doubts about the coaching at Barrow while I don't have the same doubts about the benefits Sneyd and Owen will be receiving at their present clubs.
It will take Harris time to assess the playing strengths (and weaknesses) of his squad.I think he may have learned a lot from yesterday and the previous home game when Platt wasn't playing.

I seem to recall Harris giving an opportunity to several young Welsh players at club and international level.

I just hope Gil Dudson isn't a target for the future.

Good point. Did Alan Hunte play Evalds or Owen when he was temporarily in-charge? I can't recall. I know both got a game or two under Noble.

Not sure about Owen. Don't think Evalds featured as Hunte started the bizarre experiment of Sneyd at fullback IIRC.

The problem might be that so many of those young players have been sent out on season long loans, and so can't be recalled. It's a problem many teams will face now there's no A team or U21 team.

I know what I'd do, go to Bradford and try and get Kear/Foster in and let them take a couple of fringe players to help bolster their numbers.

Might be a solution too the end of the season and in Foster you'd got quite a decent kicker too. Okay neither the fastest wingers in the league but will add much more pace than Platt on the wing. More concerning for me is a centre as more and more Gleeson looks shot.
