I've only seen that suggested speculatively.

| I think that an ' open revolt ' from a significant number of SL clubs to the proposed restructure of the whole sport is a bigger problem than our single club issue on Quota - Non Fed?

The Non Fed Quota is a part and parcel of the proposed restructure.

| Irrespective of Wednesday's meeting, I doubt we would have made the signings we have unless we had prior agreement and or acceptance from the RFL. I'm not concerned one little bit.
I'm suprised at Koukash's stance on this whole saga, he has said he thinks this shouldnt be discussed until after the World Cup (which I understand) but that only leaves 2 months until the season starts and nobody knows how the competition is to operate.

The only important thing's that will change for next season are (how many) teams will be relegated, and the non fed quota though, or am I wrong? Teams should be aiming off for relegation anyway, so 2 months notice isn't any difference there really. The non fed quota seems like the only thing that could do with more warning.

| I get the impression the Lenagan issue relates to the contribution of monies from Super League clubs down to those clubs in the Championship - as well as lack of sponsorship etc.
I have had to refer to the RLE which informs me that, with regard to Non-Fed et al. - ' the decision has been made because the number of Academies will be reduced to ten centres of excellence from 2015,with some clubs losing the right to host an Academy........If you can't have a full time Academy it will be difficult to get to eight club-trained players.'
I think it is a separate issue to the immediate impasse so shouldn't cause us to panic just yet.

| Just a thought but will the Doc get his wish with regard to either the salary cap or paying a "star " player outside the cap as part of this.

Interesting article from the players union. They seem to have valid opinions about youth player/academy development that would not be in line with increasing Non Fed Quotas.

Could the U turn by SBW, now to play for NZ in the World cup, be anything to do with the possibility, of him signing for Salford. Re star player outside the cap. Hope so

I'm not stating the postponement will not lead to a problem with Non Fed , just that it pales into insignificance alongside the other arguments?
-P&R
-The reduction of SL clubs
-The 2015 2 leagues of 12 into 3 leagues of 8
-the redistribution of monies
-Voting rights for SL clubs
these are far & above any problem with Non Fed quota , that's not part & parcel, it's arguing about the colour of the deckchairs on the Titanic compared to the above issues 20 days before our World Cup IMHO...

If you check out this release from the RFL it clearly states that player development was on the agenda for the EGM.The inability of the current academies to produce enough quality players to sustain SL was the reason they want to increase Non Fed Quotas and centralise Academies. The fact that the EGM is cancelled means the increase in Quotas has not been approved at this stage and with the players union now joining forces with the "rebel clubs" it is far from a certainty that it will be ratified in the future.

Can you point out where in the article it mentions Non Fed Players or their proposed increase?
the issues I get from their perspective is :-
Reduction in the available Full Time squads , effectively two squads of 25 senior players are threatened with the reduction .
the New Model A proposal will mean players remaining will be forced to play more games.
Similar League structures - Scotland / Switzerland have either been throw out or have led to a reduction in performance - world ranking .
League 13 represent SL squad Non Fed players as well as UK based . so why would they discriminate ?

I noticed the following statement on the other forum which was taken by someone at a meeting involving Blake Solly - [iPlans for marquee player.Could have gone through this year but Dr K derailed discussion by proposing salary cap was scrapped altogether.[/i

| I'm sure I've read some where that the salary cap is at best self governing, if a club decided to blatantly ignore it there is no way anything that was challenged legally would have a leg to stand on is there?

| I'm willing to bet that the marquee signing will be ratified in any further discussions as I'm pretty sure this is more attainable by the Doc than scrapping the salary cap.
I'm sure most teams in SL will have a benefactor willing to be linked with a big name and look at the future benefits, advertising and TV revenue from doing so.
