| Quote Talent Spotter="Talent Spotter"It's good to see that Nottingham tiger has progressed from being an expert in visa and employment law to now also being an expert in salary cap issues at Salford.'"
I am a man of many talents.
In seriousness, I am not an expert on the salary cap. I am, however, capable of reading the regulations.
My little knowledge of to goings on at Salford comes from an ex-player with no axe to grind (not Locke or Puletua)

Quote nottinghamtiger="nottinghamtiger"Unfortunately, it is true. Directly from the RFL salary cap regulations:
[iC. Items that may be excluded from the calculation of the Salary Cap Value of a Player
E1:5:7
The following items may be excluded in the calculation of the Salary Cap Value of a Player:
Prize Money
5.7.2 the Gross value of any bonus payments that may Accrue to the Player during the Salary Cap Year if he wins the annual Man-of-Steel award (or any other similar individual award) or any Man-of-the-Match awards in that Salary Cap Year; [/i
www.therfl.co.uk/the-rfl/rules/i ... section=E1
.'"
Is there a limit to these extra incomes?
Could a club pay £500,000 to its Player of the Year, £250,000 to Young Player of the Year, £150,000 to Clubman of the Year?
Sounds like BS. There'd be no point having a cap.
Maybe that's why Marwan cancelled the players awards dinner last year.

| Quote nottinghamtiger="nottinghamtiger"Correct.
Interesting how many times Chase was named MOM in his first year at Salford, although I didn't attend the games so can't comment on whether it was deserved or not.'"
Given international appearance bonuses are limited to £5k, I can't imagine there is no guidance for clubs on the permitted extent of Man-Of-The-Match bonuses.
But then this is the RFL I suppose.

I would happily be proven wrong, but the RFL's own regulations explicitly state that these bonus payments are not included in the salary cap.
Unless someone can find anything different....

| Half the problem at Salford is it's own fans. Unfortunately, I come accross lots of cretins via social media, it's so easy for some to write something, then get retweeted and before you know it, the tweet could be seen by 1000's. Some fans have an agenda against MK and doing all they can to remove him, I beleive it'll have the opposite affect and make him dig his heels in. He might not be everyones cup tea, but what do people want? Go back to the Wilkinson era and keep getting walked over, jobs for people at the club because they are passionate fans? I honestly don't mind he's hard nose and will fight for what he believes in, and if that upsets a few on the way thats fine by me. For me Vickers, is an issues, he's not used to professional sport, so change from the top, marketing needs to be replaced too, what do the media team do? Saw an interview with Darrel Griffin, the interviewee was shocking.
All thats for another day, but the fans on twitter have alot to answer for, bit like Forever Reds, those trying to prove they bigger and better fans than others and using to try gain access to the club.
What gets said on the "fans board"? Are they all yes men to Vickers and Marwan. The spokesperson from the board needs to open and frankly honest Marwan, he's got big enough shoulders I'm sure he'd listen but whether he accepts it, well thats for another day

| Sorry but I'm with N Tiger on this (from comments made at Huddersfield that made no sense then but do now)
Butcher: yes it's getting more like Dallas (ask your pa) than Corrie.

| This is my take on a few things,
1. Tony P , had to be signed of the qouta list , because we had to many over sea,s players. so sumone had to go, not fair on tony i know.
2. Kevin Locke, Has never been fully fit since he has arrived last season, proved it again over the weekend he is out for the rest of the season, so the choice was made to get rid and save some money, cant blame the doc to be honest, I just wish kevin had been fully fit when he arrived , He could of set the superleague alight.
3. Rangi Chase, At leeds, yes he was on the pitch warming up, but to me he didnt seem to put much effort into the warm up. Dont forget he has been out for 2 weeks injured, we were not going to beat leeds,( though i would of liked to of seen a better performance from all players). Just maybe Ian Watson did not want to risk Rangi getting injured again when we have a match on sunday that we can win and must win, and he thought keeping Rangi out for another week would aid his recovery, plus after the last two wins without him it would of been a hard choice to drop sumone to bring a player who is not match fit into a hard game, ( we need to bring back the a team so injured players can become match fit, but that is for the RFL to decide).
4. As for players not being payed, I cant comment, but if a player is not getting paid, why would other players sign 2 year contracts, im sure they talk to each other and if Fred is not being paid, why would Tom sign a 2 year contract, that is all i will say on that matter.
That is my take on some of what is going on at Salford.
Some of you say you might not watch us next year etc, Like me you are all die hard Salford fans , and where ever we are next season you like me will be there, after 53 years of ups and downs, i will still watch them.

Don't you worry, Hillbilly, I'm old enough to remember Dallas the first time around. Unfortunately.

Actually visited Southfork once when I was over in Texas, pretty cool but nothing compared to a visit to Crawford, never seen so many blacked out windows and unmarked police cars.
