I don't believe this for a moment - you can randomly nominate a player every week to get a payment that doesn't count on the cap? No way that can be true, otherwise clubs would just have a carousel of MOM awards across the squad to pay salaries in excess of the cap. Or pay someone nothing but award him MOM every week and he would be free on the cap!

Unfortunately, it is true. Directly from the RFL salary cap regulationsC. Items that may be excluded from the calculation of the Salary Cap Value of a Player

| On 24 June 2015 Junior S'au and Carl Forster were confirmed as having signed new 2 year contracts. This is after Kevin Locke left and whilst the Tony Puletua situation has been going on. So what exactly has changed other than the constant attacks from external forces. Let's wait and see how the team perform against Widnes.

| It's good to see that Nottingham tiger has progressed from being an expert in visa and employment law to now also being an expert in salary cap issues at Salford.

If there is no cap on these payments, surely that clause alone renders the whole cap irrelevant?
So for arguments sake Saints can pay Roby £100k for picking up a MOM award and it wouldn't count on the cap?

Correct.
Interesting how many times Chase was named MOM in his first year at Salford, although I didn't attend the games so can't comment on whether it was deserved or not.

Is there a limit to these extra incomes?
Could a club pay £500,000 to its Player of the Year, £250,000 to Young Player of the Year, £150,000 to Clubman of the Year?
Sounds like BS. There'd be no point having a cap.
Maybe that's why Marwan cancelled the players awards dinner last year.

Given international appearance bonuses are limited to £5k, I can't imagine there is no guidance for clubs on the permitted extent of Man-Of-The-Match bonuses.
But then this is the RFL I suppose.

I would happily be proven wrong, but the RFL's own regulations explicitly state that these bonus payments are not included in the salary cap.
Unless someone can find anything different....

| Half the problem at Salford is it's own fans. Unfortunately, I come accross lots of cretins via social media, it's so easy for some to write something, then get retweeted and before you know it, the tweet could be seen by 1000's. Some fans have an agenda against MK and doing all they can to remove him, I beleive it'll have the opposite affect and make him dig his heels in. He might not be everyones cup tea, but what do people want? Go back to the Wilkinson era and keep getting walked over, jobs for people at the club because they are passionate fans? I honestly don't mind he's hard nose and will fight for what he believes in, and if that upsets a few on the way thats fine by me. For me Vickers, is an issues, he's not used to professional sport, so change from the top, marketing needs to be replaced too, what do the media team do? Saw an interview with Darrel Griffin, the interviewee was shocking.
All thats for another day, but the fans on twitter have alot to answer for, bit like Forever Reds, those trying to prove they bigger and better fans than others and using to try gain access to the club.
What gets said on the "fans board"? Are they all yes men to Vickers and Marwan. The spokesperson from the board needs to open and frankly honest Marwan, he's got big enough shoulders I'm sure he'd listen but whether he accepts it, well thats for another day

| Sorry but I'm with N Tiger on this (from comments made at Huddersfield that made no sense then but do now)
Butcher: yes it's getting more like Dallas (ask your pa) than Corrie.
