If this is true? Then we sould make him earn his money cleaning the changing rooms!!!
On a serious note. If we can't afford to pay McRae off and get a new head coach, then wouldn't we be better of getting Simms to play a more active role in running the team and build a new coaching team around him. Seperate defence and attack coaches with an additional skills and techniques coach. We may already have this, but I haven't heard of it. If simms took charge for a season it would prove he cares about the club, plus we seem to do better when takes charge and the Halifax fans used to say good things about him.
Not sure if I heard correctly but isn't Steve McCormack out of a job at the moment, he seems to have really developed as a coach and could do a job within the setup somewhere. Putril from St Helens could be a good option for head coach, worked under successful coaches and it's suggested he's learnt his trade.
We do have some good players coming on board next year that could potentially do the business for us. It would be foolish to leave them under McRae!!!!!!

Any chance you could name any of the people on here who think 'Macrae' is God, just to show that you're not just spouting utter garbage like?

| I'd be happy with any coach you when asked on GMR what went wrong didn't reply "I don't know we trained well all week and looked really good" As McRae has done in the past 4-5 interviews I've heard him give.
Looking at the new squad though I would hope even he can get them going as we seem to have some decent "names" on the rota. Lets hope they don't all turn into Willie Talau clones

| I don't see the point in revisiting past coaches.
McCormack couldn't coach a winning side to the big prize with all the talent Widnes had. he is about to start a teaching post in Wigan.
Harrison- We have been there before and the style of play just before he left was almost as bad as now.
McRae wouldn't leave the Rabbitohs when moved upstairshe will see out any contract s we should get used to it. The only option is to move him into the Media office and get someone new in half way through the season.
Would love Cartwright but I think that is a non starter. Wasn't Darren brown an assistant somewhere?
Noble would sort out some problems but then bore us.
We have to decide what we want to watch, do we want % wins (noble) or do we want a little flair and entertainment.
realistically we are looking at a no2 to step up.

When mentioning McCormack it wasn't to suggest he should be head coach. Rather an assistant.
Somebody mentioned Jon Sharp, an interesting suggestion if he is passionate about taking the lead role once more. If not could we persuade him to come on board under Simmsy.
Could be win win situation. Simms likes the sound of his own voice and Sharp would be allowed to do what he is best at, working with players.

I'd just be happy getting beat without a cricket score being applied, so % wins or flair and entertainment both sound great to me.

| I have seen a few names thrown about for new head coach on here and i agree with some but we should never revisit our past when were suposed to be striving forward to a new era.
Truth be told though i think McRae will be at the helm until Alker is ready for coaching. Which might be good for Salford three or four years down the line but salford need a quick fix to guarentee a franchise.
But for me Alan Hunte would be in with a shout. few may laugh at this what about David Young ex salford also.
Brian Noble i wouldnt have a problem with or Cartwright but i think the odds of prising him away from gold coast are at best nil.
I havnt seen anyone mention Paul Cullen though which has suprised me i think he could do a good job at Salford with a good team behind him.

Excellent shout on Youngy but fear that after Wales fail to impress in either this years 6 Nations or the RU world cup next year he will be promoted to be Gatlands replacement, should that be the case Shaun Edwards would be someone I'd kill to have as coach as he looks to be a very astute person.
