get well soon lad, I know what your feeling 20 odd years since I had to give up through a disc problem in my neck (stoop apart) but as LF says there are many other ways of carrying on with sport.

I also play at u18's level for my ameateur club and can only wish you a speedy recovery mate. I know people who have had career ending injuries at a similar age and have moved into coaching the younger teams at the same ameateur club. Maybe something to look into when you've fully recovered and wanting to stay involved in the game
