Strange how every player we sign is supposedly a mercenary. How dare these players with their short careers want to get as good a deal for themselves and their families as they can.

| Dobson is a very good SL player, his style suits the game over here. His kicking game is good, both in play and goal kicking. He can lead the team around the pitch and puts people through gaps for fun, has a decent running game too. Ticks all the boxes for a good halfback, the big question as im sure youre all aware is if he can work well with Rangi. The good thing is they will have a full pre season to figure it out so fingers crossed for you guys

Nice of you to say.
A refreshing change from the gurners with a Sneyd fixation.

| In my opinion Salford wanted to sign Dobson last season, to play this season but HKR would of wanted a big transfer fee, I think a deal was struck for him to exercise his get out clause to go back to Aussie and him sign for us 2015. No transfer fee

| Strange how our two biggest signings are in positions where we have our best young players coming through, yet we are already talking about playing players out of position in other areas.
Can't beat a bit of balanced recruitment.

| Whilst I'm highly delighted with this signature, I can't work out why this has almost slipped under the mat whilst only a few days ago the signing of W.H. was announced as if it was the second coming, am I missing something ? as I could have taken M.D. as a massive announcement.

| After posting the above just thinking to myself that maybe he was meant to be announced but maybe the I's and T's wern't dotted and crossed in time for the show so they had to use the appointment of W.H. instead.

| I think Dobson will prove to be a vital cog in the machine. The team has been crying out for a really good organiser all year and I think Dobson fits the bill perfectly. I see him as a respected figurehead both on and off the field, and a steadying influence like Dunemann was for us back in 2006.
I appreciate it could limit appearances or mean playing our quality youngsters Sneyd and Fages in other positions, but it certainly helps having strength in depth, competition for places and versatility in the squad.
One thing is for sure, with Dobson and Sneyd in our squad next year our kicking game should improve dramatically.

It is balanced recruitment.4 potential half backs;2 who are left footed kickers,Sneyd and Dobson and 2 right- footed,Theo and Chase.
The development of Theo and Sneyd by Sean Long has been fragmented but former half back Daryl Powell kindly stepped into the breach to assist Marc Sneyd.
Must praise Iestyn Harris for helping Rangi take responsibility for his kicking game.
Should Adrian Morley make a decision at the end of this campaign will Dobson take over captaincy and relieve Rangi of any outside pressure?
Are 4 too many? Not when you consider Rangi being injured in the first half of the opening game this year.
How many half back pairings have the top sides had to have so far in this campaign?
The coaching staff now in place, alongside 2 players with NRL and Super League experience can only assist the 2 younger players.

| Dobson gave us five years great service so I would hardly call him a mercenary although in that time I can never once recall him playing hooker as somebody on here seems to think you have made a great signing and if I had a choice between him and chase it would be Dobson everytime he's that good

You just have to look at Wigan (full disclosure, I'm a Warriors fan) to see that 4 HBs are needed. So far this season we've given significant game time to:
Blake Green,
Matty Smith,
Sam Powell,
George Williams,
Ryan Hampshire
All listed as HBs. Powell and Williams have also played Hooker spelling McIllorum. Hampshire has played FB and HB, spelling Bowen.
My only worry for Salford would be how much money you have invested in the position - I don't know how cheap Syned (sp?) and Theo are. Dobson and Chase will be on a fair whack.
