I agree with pretty much everything posted here. I don't think even the most bigoted board member could claim any credibility if Matt was to go, despite ANY "spin" that followed.

This should be seen as a real opportunity for us to start playing and behaving like a truly professional Super league club. I must admit that I'm totally "refreshed" listening to Matt's interviews and fairly amused too that some of "the old guard" must cringe at his subtle (and some not so subtle) references.

Our club has needed a REAL shake up for a bloody long time, and I'm sure even Matt appreciates that "Rome wasn't built in a day". Nonetheless I'm confident that this guy with the support of the fans will be the "right man" that our club so publicly professed to need.

Keep it coming Matt, Salford fans may not be big in number (at the moment) but you'll find that we are a very loyal bunch, as quite a few of your countrymen would probably attest to.

It would be a complete travesty after all the John Wilkinson said about the interview process and how MP was the outstanding candidate etc etc if he doesn't now back him to the hilt for the next couple of seasons.
Come on Mr W, YOU are the chairman, if there are people on your board of directors who aren't "on board" then let them go - there's no room for sentiment in this, Salford Reds have stumbled along from one level of mediocrity to another for far too long!
At last we seem to have a guy who needs to make a name for himself and in doing that he has to get the team to deliver - and that's all we fans want!!!

It all depends what 'backing' MP wants

Lets say he thinks we need to improve in certain areas (not just on field) , but that will cost 100k....the BOD could say 'we agree, but theres no money matt'...

I think its worrying bout the rumour on her ethe playing budget has been cut by 200k to just 800k for next year. MP may be good...but when most sides are spending between 1.2 and 1.7 million....he hasnt got achance

IF that rumour is true...I cant believe they would cut the budget...when about to move to new staidum....of all the times we need some good performances on the picth its next year. If new fans come to look at satidum..and we play gash...thats it......they wont be back. SURELY...this is just a rumour and has know truth??? However, when we are replacing established pro's with cheaper options.....(casdhmere for Gledhill), and with lots of 'financial restriction' comments in MEN/advertiser....certainly points that this rumour could be true

Very worrying really.

Neil Barker's full of hot air, I can't believe people are getting so worked up about this.

There's probably not been a meeting, and Parish hasn't said anything particularly controversial, so will get on with JAW and Co just fine.

It was obviously a quiet day on here leaving NB with nothing to lift for his MEN 'report' so he had to recycle some other tripe.

If there was a board meeting to discuss someone who has become unpopular and says things that people don't want to hear, perhaps Neil Barker was the topic of conversation and not MP?!?

Its about time Jw got his house in order.Weve been a laughing stock for far to long under his tenure.MP is 100% right with his past comments about the club not pulling together, and now is the best time moving grounds to get this right once and for all.

Also Steve Simms (father ted.) reckons we.ll be hitting 8-9000 gates next year.Well its not a far cry but we wont hit these gates going the way we are.Listen to MP if not, the only 8-9000 gates in our ground will be Sale Rugby unions.

If there is a meeting the first thing on the agenda should be a one way ticket back to Australia, for Mr Simms.
the money we save should be then used on players,I wonder just who,s feathers have been ruffled.I bet father Ted,s and
Dougle aka Simms and Tarry.Matt Parish must have been painted a picture and then finds out we are run like a conner shop.
If the chairman could go back a couple of months, and we no what we no now would he still be telling us we have the right man for the job.I say yes.Well done Matt

Lets bear in mind that everyone thinks they know how to run a club better than those that actually do. MP is in the priviledged position that he can voice his opinions to the board and they can be discussed, adopted or dismissed as they see fit but they may not necessarily be right for the club.

Please just shut up, you bore people to death with your one dimensional witerings.

If there's a meeting to discuss some of the issues we have as a Club, and what can be done to address those then that can only be positive for us all.

A few being ruffled in the staff room at present, there is a young magpie running about on the suspended ceiling, and has now just flown the length of the room, about 4 female members of staff have disappeared through the door and another is sat under an umbrella. icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

This appears to be a combination of Simmsitis and Tarrymania and if not treated can become Houldsworthitis.

Best see the doctor, he is in the shop on the conner!

I would love to know where all these facts about playing budgets and ground costs come from.? I have it from a very reliable source that next years budget is exactly the same as this year. By off loading some off the high earners MP obviously is moving towards youth-- players who are hungry--, not some of the has beens we signed last year, or those who came to us crocked. JW has probably been shocked by what MP has told him and that changes are needed urgently, as i am sure no one else has had the balls to tell him. What he does now will determine the future of our great club, either MP is backed to the hilt , or he dismisses MP and the club will become more of a laughing stock than it already is and the future will be very grim for all of us. Having watched Salford for over 45 years all i want is to see us getting better, and for me this will only happen with MP at the helm bringing the changes we need to match the proffesionalism of Wigan/ Saints/ Warrington etc. JW the ball is firmly in your court.

Not sure about this but I seem to think that Steve Simms contract is up at the end of the season, if this is the case then this could, IF true, provide another opportunity for us to clean house even more.

I would be surprised if any of the stuff was news to the Board, after all didn't Harrison say many of the same things on his arrival?

The only news should be the fitness of the team and the tactics employed by the previous coach.

As for Simms I would have thought this is something for the baord and Matt, if they are happy then it would be great if fans would let it lie for next season.

To be honest here. Steve Simms appears to be mentioned in our forum an awful lot. Now I really am "out of the loop" here when it comes down to the day to day running of our club.

If you have to put personal differences to one side, could anyone tell me why this man should be appear to be vilified so continuously and so often by, what I would like to think are very tolerant fans?

I give you my word here: I'm NOT playing "Devils advocate", I simply don't have enough contact through geographical reasons on a regular basis.

I really hope that this current and immediate future period will be recognised as "The Matt Parish era".

If our new coach is "direct", honest, forthright and so on, and is responding to the years of mediocrity that has been our stock in trade in the past, then we should recognise that this is exactly what Aussies are famous for.

And I should know having more Aussie relatives than Poms.

This guy is like a breath of fresh air. I think Daz, (Michigan red) put it pretty well in his post when he stated "wake up and smell the coffee".

And to use another modern USA franchise catchphrase.................I'm loving it!
