| Quote: Red Preacher "It's astonishing isn't it. Worrying too. You see, once you get a core of critical commentators on the Turkey, it sets a downward spiral of general negativity in motion. Views on the coaching personnel, methods, playing staff, physical size, MOTIVATION and anything else people think they know a bit about when in truth, they haven't got a clue.
Most opinions are based on very limited information and once a perceived interpretation of the characteristics of this team/club have been established, their opinions are reinforced by what they see on the pitch.
The lack of emotion showed by the coach is a case in point. It was suggested that the coach doesn't care and doesn't get the best out of the players because he doesn't swing from the roof of the Main Stand at every opportunity. Thus, this is why the players appear to lack passion when on the pitch. (This is called 'false attribution error' if you're interested) Suddenly this is DEFINITELY why the team or any team doesn't win... But wait a minute, that simply isn't the truth is it. Tony Smith, Michael Maguire, Stephen Kearney and Wayne Bennett are all coaches I've witnessed observe the game in a calm and considered manner. So, do they lack passion? Well, who knows but they certainly don't lack winning records do they?
You see, it only takes a couple of people to suggest why anything happens at the club and suddenly, truth is created. (Peeps, it's called social constructionism)
Anyway, on behalf of the many former Turkey regulars who rarely post on here anymore due to the utter conjecture, may I say, come on peeps, let's just cool it a bit. I know you all care immensely about the club and are massively frustrated at it's perceived current plight but my word, it's depressing everybody!
Hey, even I, despite hardly missing a game in (Yes, I know I missed half a season when I was in Aus) over 20 years am seriously considering knocking it on the head. And it's not the club I'm pi$$ed off with. It's the growing majority of negativity from the fans. Negativity founded on very little knowledge. (+ the louts who were an absolute embarrassment at Leeds last week.)
Well, no doubt I've stepped on a few toes here so apologies if I've caused offence.'"
Great post mate. The 'fans' who do create this negativity are the ones who expect success, to win every game, and the spiral of negativity you mention starts as soon as this doesnt happen. The people who talk utter tripe you should ignore but if there is a considerable amount of them maybe you cant Its just a shame a great supporter like yourself is being made to feel this way by those who dont share the same passion and love for your club

It's still like that where I stand. Albeit with a bit of gallows humour thrown in there for good measure sometimes.
The match experience is often only as good as you make it. Separating the dross on the pitch with what happens off it quite often helps.

| I stopped going in the shed about three seasons ago. I got sick of being surrounded my mindless young nobs. Having retreated to a corner at the Willows end, I enjoy chatting about the game with whoever happens to be nearby and still manage to celebrate each rare victory with enthusiasm. It's a shame, but I've also found that I have started to avoid certain elements of our supporters on the many away games I attend. I do feel that our support in general has lost it's former sense of humour and been replaced by a misappropriate sense of grandeur that results in bitterness when it fails to materialse.

I am the same at away games utter embarassment is the best way to describe how i feel at some of the antics.
It is bad enough being shown up on the pitch without having to put up with it off it as well

Salford
Jewitt didn't play against Leeds because he was ill. Sidlow was put in at the last minute. Although with Cashmere's one match ban Jewitt might be forced to play. Only other option is to have Boyle, Neal, Parker and Sidlow as the props, with Adamson, Spencer and Nero at 2nd row, with Gleeson in the centres.

| Listen all this about Feka, I fully understand but it's not totally his fault a lot of it is how we use him. When he was at Wigan he had Fielden and Coley playing almost 80 minutes every game, Feka was used not as a 20 minute spell prop like we want to but maybe just 5 - 10 minutes when Wigan were on top, the coach would judge the game and throw him on at the right times (roll on roll off substitutes will let you do that) . Now I'm sure we've all seen this and maybe commented that Feka is only ever on the park when we're under the cosh. On Friday we started like a house on fire and had plenty of pressure on them but Feka was sat on the bench, after the Cashmere v Webb incident which for a few of us changed the tide of the first half, Leeds started to put us under the pump and what did we do put Feka on, wrong time, wrong place.
I accept that Feka is far from perfect but I believe if used correctly he could be a decent addition to us, if we want to use him like Jewitt, Boyle, Neal or Parker (I'll leave Cashmere outta this!) then we've signed the wrong type of player, not his fault, the clubs!

I agree to a certain extent with what your saying, it was the clubs fault in the fact that we should never of got him hes not the type of player we needed, we need a player with more game time at the end of the day we are Salford were going to be under the cosh for a lot of games this season. Its hard to know when to bring fekka into the game we could bring him on when we are attacking and the next minute were on the back foot defending that's just Salford and why we should never have signed him a luxury player we cant afford to have.
At the end of the day he is still a professional rugby player and needs to learn how to defend some of the tackles he has missed this season are beyond a joke even when hes had the ball going forward hes not made any yardage weather that's to do with the way he receives the ball or not i don't know but id still expect a 20 stone brick house to make a few more meters going forward!
