To be fair mate.. seeing as your council are well on side with this I wouldn't be surprised if this goes through in record time. I think you might be well on your way before the Christmas break.
If you needed to you could certainly clear the land again as that doesn't need planning permission. It's all a question of whether they want to take the (incredibly small really as to be discounted) risk of the permission being refused and having spent the money on the clearing.

It won't be long before you have real, actual movement on this I'm sure!!

If a full planning application has been put in, then it should be available on the Salford Council Planning Portal rlhttps://www.salford.gov.uk/living/planning/development-control/planninglist.htmrl in the next week or so.

Will be worth keeping an eye out, because when it does turn up on the site, attached to it will be all the plans and drawings for the project, and so we should be able to get an idea of how the finished product should look, and how much has been sacrificed in the new design.
