| Quote redgunner="redgunner"What a laughing stock we have become, more negatives about our proud club, what top player will want to come to us!
The soap opera continues'"
It's a great shame that it's finished this way.
If it's true that players are owed money, and I assume the lawyers are stating the facts, then it's very disappointing.
Irrespective of form and injuries, these are professional people signing contracts in good faith.
Every time there's a story likes this,it reduces the pool of talent that will sign for us.
I'm sure MK will cover this on Tuesday but,as redgunner rightly states,we're fast becoming a joke and it saddens me.

| Amen to those comments, BR.
I'm very saddened by this story and feel the whole Locke saga (as expressed in the media) reflects badly on the club.

| Aren't overseas players paid differently to British lads? Somebody once told me that overseas players get paid a basic living allowance and the rest is paid into an account they can access at the end of their contract. I wonder if any disputes could be relating to this? Maybe the club haven't transferred money periodically to these accounts (For cash flow reason's) and some players are getting a little nervous? I suppose as long as all the money is there at the end it's OK. Just a thought because if they weren't getting paid at all they wouldn't be eating would they?

Whatever it is,and wherever it's paid,if we're being sued for non payment,it's seriously bad form.

I kind of remember this, it was "image rights" that were held in an account and released when the player leaves the country. The tax man kicked off and there was a real chance that most of the SL clubs would go bust.
I think it was Leeds who went into bat against this and everything turned out OK. I don't think they are allowed to do the image rights thing anymore, though.
EDIT: I did a Google after writing all that;

| Terrible situation that has been brewing for months, as I have previously stated all will come out in the end and it wont just be TP & Locke who will be forced out unpaid.
As for it freeing up salary cap space?? im not too sure any of the Salford players have issues with their actual salary!

I wasn't intentionally trying to make the situation appear trivial. I just find it interesting that this solicitor Cramer who is representing both Puletua and Locke was also representing two Salford players in 2012 when these players served a winding up order on the club. Could this have been for the very same reason I mentioned in my previous post? and could this be Cramer's next manoeuvre?

I wasn't suggesting you were making it trivial, you were just trying to stay positive which we're all trying to do.
There have been suggestions that some senior players are also owed money. I've no idea whether this is true.
I'm not interested in the 2012 situation,we've changed ownership since then I think.
I've just started to feel embarrassed for the club ,players, supporters and everyone connected.
If we're issuing contracts and not honouring them, then it's a poor reflection on those responsible.

| Whilst I agree we shouldn't be bothered about 2012 it is starting to have the whiff of the beginning of the end of the Wilkinson era
I'm finding it v depressing and embarrassing for our club. I hope it is just rumours and people looking to knock down Motormouth Marwan but there are starting to be too many rumours to ignore

Me neither BR I was simply making the point that with Cramer now involved there could possibly be similarities between the past and present.

| Lets face it, on the face of it Locke's departure wont affect us on the field. Apart from his first game away at Huddersfield, he has done nothing in a Salford shirt of any note because he has unfortunately been injured for the majority of his time here. I admire his courage though, it must have been tough for him at times but he never seemed to let each injury affect him to much and just continued with his rehab every time.
It is a huge shame it never worked out though, he had the potential to be the best signing any Super League club had ever made (big and bold statement I know, but true) and it is a massive shame for him, the club and the supporters this never happened.
I'm gravely concerned about the reports of him being owed money, he is now the third ex player along with Tony Puletua and Brad England to make such claims. When you consider the facts and bear in mind the CCJ's which have been served you would be a fool not to be worried, regardless of Koukash' wealth. Since he has taken over, we're in no better financial state as a business/club than we were under Wilkinson, if anything we're worse off being our liabilities are even greater. Fortunatly, for the time being we have a rich owner who seems content on progressing the club and isn't considering quitting any time soon.
I await Koukash' press conference with baited breath, as at the moment our club is being dragged through the dirt for all the wrong reasons. I'm worried how this may affect our future signings, even if there is nothing in it why risk joining a team where such rumours persist? You just wouldn't.
