| Quote ="Michigan red"Just read one of Martyn Sadlers tweets and it refers to a new ownership structure does this mean that there is one now a coming together of investors to form a buyout partnership?
Would still very much hope to keep JW as a figurehead chairman but start afresh from the ground up.
Maybe someone with the right work background might know but if there is a change of ownership will all contracts for playing and back room staff need to be nulled and start again? If so you'd hope that the new owners would make current staff re apply for positions rather than starting off where the current owners finished up.'"
Keep Simms as well, then we will have a figurehead with eyes and ears.

| John Wilkinson should be given a position like 'executive president'... where he can enjoy the perks of the best seat in the house and sitting with his feet up watching Salford hopefully move forward... His service absolutely deserves that... but as for being part of the running of the club, it's best left to new people to do that. Time to hopefully turn over a new page and begin a new chapter... however that may turn out. For the sake of the Chairman's health he needs to lose the stress of running a club like Salford.

| Look, there is no doubt that JW has kept the club alive and I guess the financial commitment is massively different to what he envisaged when he bought the club from Brian Snape.
I hope his reputation remains high despite the winding up order etc.
I think it's really important that he has no ongoing role if ownership changes. If its just a capital injection, that's different.
New owners should have a new message and a new figurehead.

| This may not be news as I haven't read the thread, but the players haven't been paid by the club and the RFL are close to sorting something out for them for this pay period.

This ( menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... lford-reds ) suggests otherwise.

| Something may have been sorted this morning then, but I've spoken to more than one player who hadn't been paid as of last night.

| Would expect nothing less from that Trio, especially Patten.
Talk about kick a dog when its down.
Anyone who says that lot were worthy of a shirt is beyond me.
Patten is a real piece of work and we are well rid.

While I can see it might look a bit callous of them they are only after monies owed, think the club should pay Patten with great speed as he will over the coming years have sway over players if he is to become an agent and if the new money make a song and dance about paying him it might cause him to think Salford are worth it if there is someone competent in charge.

| PR I think that's completely misreading the situation.
Assuming the guys are owed money, then seeing a winding up petition placed it's a fairly sensible thing to do to get yourself in the queue if the worst should come to pass.
Certainly for Feka and Patten as they are ex-players then they have little other leverage - not so sure about Anderson, if he is genuinely up for another contract assuming the negotiations succeed and the new investment happens that his may not be such a smart move?

| I'm with Prestwich Red on this one.
Heard this yesterday and purposely did not post until I'd weighed up my feelings on this ,
They have every right to be aggrieved if they are owed payments by the club . I'd be p1ssed if I hadn't received monies from a business I was employed by . So in one sense I empathise with their actions.
But as a Salford fan it sickens me that they had taken such a decision. and any feelings of sympathy I had have evaporated.
That they would add their support so visibly to any action designed to end the life of the club speaks of a total disregard for their own ex club mates, staff within the club who rely on the club to feed their kids & pay rent and not least the fans for who the club is lifeblood.
Measured against the actions & behaviour of the players & backroom staff at Bradford they are found wanting . when they were faced with no wages and the likely scenario that their club would die they closed ranks and toughed it out , Many have signed new deals despite the rollercoaster last season was for them.
If the Club did fold the Taxman would take the lions share of any remaining capital anyway .
Yes, if they are rightfully owed money they should be paid, but to join in on an action to destroy the club in an attempt to extract that money at this crucial period leaves a very sour taste .

| Cheers middleman
The fact that the players mentioned also cheated the club out of two years wages also rankles with me.
They should be paying back the club not asking for money

| If the club is wound up then the tax man won't take the money all creditor rank equally.
I'm not sure the club has any real assets, if the Order is made they all lose out.

| I'm sorry, but if the club owes players money under the terms of their contracts then they should be paid. Surely there can be no disagreement on that fact.
This unfortunate period in the history of our club seems to be dragging on far too long for me. I hope the club plans to get tomorrow's Winding Up Petition out of the way so it can then announce new funding and put all this stuff behind us. Here's hoping!

Can you honestly say they earned their money.
Apart from a few games and I mean a few they actually did actually put in a full shift.
If I performed as they did at work I would have been sacked.

You have a point, but I don't see them as any worse than many others we've had over the years - but then that's a whole other thread!!!
I really hope that this investment and new ownership and management happens and we can put all this behind us and have a genuine new start.

| Could these players be taking a big financial risk with reports of new investment imminent? Could this turn out to be a classic example of cutting your nose off to spite your face? I question if these players would have been better advised to delay their actions until new investment talks are finally concluded.
I pretty sure that any new investors will want (and be doing their calculations on) Superleague rugby and the only way this will happen is if the club honours its creditors. If the club are forced out of business now it is likely these players will be kissing their golden handshakes goodbye, as new investors are likely to just walk away without a dangaling SL carrot.

| Attended the hearing along with Walshovski. Was one other Salford fan there and a female journo, assumed to be from the MEN. Made a few scribbles as the hearing went along:
The petition from SG has now been withdrawn. The only squabble with SG/Salford now seems to be over costs which are still live. Impression seems to be that Salford are going to try and get them back later on in the proceedings. S.G. served a schedule for costs, but it was unsigned and non-serviceable apparently.
Patten and Anderson have now been substituted onto the petition, however. None of the costs were mentioned out loud and we couldn't get close enough to the emails being passed around. The barrister for Salford, a Miss Darcy, tried to get Patten and Anderson fobbed off on a technicality, due to not putting in their notice on a certain form in compliance with some rule (rule 4.9, if I remember rightly...) but the judge wasn’t having any of it, there’s no stipulation that the form is required, apparently. Would’ve just meant the players could bring their own petition against the club, but good old Miss Darcy did a sterling job on that front. There was a couple of other minor technicalities, Anderson’s home address not being on the notice, for instance, but the judge thought it daft to block it on those grounds.
Patten goes on now as the main name on the petition as he’s owed more, I assume Anderson will be on as a secondary name.
The whole HMRC issue seems to still be hanging around, however, with no real mention of it other than stating that they wished to join the petition but had no representation there this morning. Seemed very, very strange, but who knows what’s going on there. Seems they won't be on it as things stand.
Petition now to be amended, re-served and re-advertised. Next hearing is on the 7th of January. And my final scribble just says “costs reserved.”
