Holts Sweet Holts Never Drink on an Empty Head BIGPEV THE ONLY MAN TO GET A REAL INJURY AT THE STOOP:icons39ad_files/4795-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg

last week it cost me £54 for two games at United I could not attend due to holidays (both cup matches) but as PR says going to Rugby league is a bargain, also the other week one of the contributors to this site (won't mention his name) attended the Sale Yawnion game that ended 15 - 12 all kicks no Tries and paid £28.50 to get in.

PS 4 numbers on the lottery covered the United costs.

"self-appointed intelligentsia "

looks like the Stalinists have arrived. The clunking fists of the shed.

My point is that it makes no difference if the club has offered to pay supporters to attend and if they gave away butties and beer, someone would find fault. So far we have had every reason not to attend from selling our best player (sic) to young single persons being discriminated against "including grannies being subsidised icon_rolleyes.gif ).

Compare Sale Sharks - season tickets range from "value" at £199 to "Platinum" at £700. I will compare to the round ball game as they charge fantastic prices with little promise of as much excitement as at any Rugby game. OK Rochdale FC charges less - but the club is teetering on the edge of ruin as they cannot attract the fans. Hardly SUPER League.

We also have the sponsors reducing their financial support. Yet we expect improvement - players and games cost money. Like any business, prices go up.

Whatever the club do, too many see it in negative ways; that's not criticism but whingeing.

And how likely is that?!

Even if they did, what's to stop Orsall Red and his lover GT showing their passports, claiming to live at the same address (even though they don't - yet!) then getting two season tickets but only paying the £50 once?

I think the idea is to make it attractive to the people who are going to go to every game and maybe even some away ones with reference to the junior season ticket. If its cheaper to pay as a non member for only a few games then go ahead and do it. You work out what works out cheapest for you and do it. Simple. I have slagged the club off recently for the way things are run but it seems like some people are just moaning for the sake of it on this.

Compare that to Salfords season ticket and I think it is a bargain.
Look at say Boltons season ticket cost who I would say are a equivalent in football terms to Salford i.e will never win anything and will always be just above relegation(no offence to Bolton fans, but the truth hurts) and you will see RL still offers a good deal'"

Assuming you value your loyalty to the two teams in equal amounts I'd say Salford is beginning to look less attractive by the season. You have a choice between one of the finest stadiums in the World with modern facilities, a high level of football entertainment, some world class players (for both sides) and the chance to watch a side that you know is going to do well.

Compare to that Salford where you can watch a bunch of incredibly mediocre players get beat most weeks by what are generally marginally less mediocre players in a 110 year old shed.

Even some of the things that you used to seperate watching Salford from watching United (a good atmosphere and far less tools) no longer apply.

In fact thinking about it the positives Salford have in comparison are that the beer doesn't cost as much and you can stand without being hassled.

Still think it's good value by comparison?

I think, for the first time in a long time, that there is a decent debate on here with regards to this ST announcement and far from people moaning for moanings sake they are expressing their opinions...I, along with others who don't have families to help subsidise the costs, have already said that the idea is a great one in theory but to just apply it to families is short-sighted.

And comparing Salford to Nited (or any other PL football club) isn't a fair one...as DR rightly points out the facilities are far and away better at most, if not all PL games...we should compare our prices to those of Huddersfield (who have much better facilities than us) or with Castleford both of whom are cheaper than us.

It was my understanding that memberships are for families, such as married couples and their children, step-children etc.

If it also applies to people living together I would then assume that GT would have to provide some document(s) proving that GT lives at the same address as Ordsall Red? Who knows maybe the club have access to an online electoral register allowing them to check the legitimacy of each membership application.

For those comparing top flight football to rugby league, don't bother — they are incomparable. Lower Championship/League One is a better comparison.

I wonder how many season ticket holders wear their shirts? And go to the Magic weekend? (N.B. I got my Magic ticket for £2 — filthy student rates.)

Looked like we had about 150 tops there last year (unless there were loads in the upper stand).

Quote: Diavolo Rosso "snip'"

I am seriously pi$$ed off with United at present.
I opted out of the Wolves game as I am working away as I was not going to lose £37.00 of my cash.
This now means I can not apply for away games any more (not that I get a ticket anyway in the ballot) it also means that I will probably not get a cup final tkt IF United get through to a final.
I could not go to Wolfsburg as again I am away, luckily someone bought this off me as there is no way you can get your money back for this.
Added to the fact that the football this year has apart from the Derby been tedious to say the least.
So if SL ever gets like football and the clubs rip off there fans then I will walk away from that.
As for Salford , the victories are so much sweeter as they are not expected. I can go to any away game without having to go into a ballott, If we ever got to a Cup final I would not be excempt from applying due to the fact I misssed a reserve team playing and finally it is as i have said good value for money.

P.S no I would never ever even thinkof going over to the dark side (FCUM)

What if you love watching rugby and don't particularly like football? . . . It's reasonable value for those people isn't it?

The closest example for me was when somebody mentioned in an earlier post about having to pay £28.50 to watch a Sale Sharks match!

Hotels in the vicinity have cottoned on too. Look how high their rates have gone up.

Another point: if you are/were in the position that you'd have to pay £180, how do you feel about the substantial rise given Salford's off-field woes and uninspiring recruitment thus far?

Do you mind paying the extra? Are you going to wait until the 2010 squad is complete before committing? Or until some concrete news is released on the new stadium (pardon the pun)? Would you rather the situation be clearer i.e. pleading for the extra money upfront because the club need it rather than trying to bamboozle you into wrapping the amount into a membership/benefits scheme?

To die of thirst we have no fear. As long as we get Holts' beer!!!!:39789.jpg

Quote: "OrdsallRed wrote

Yes that's true if you buy the membership as a single person then pick and choose your games you will be paying more. However, if I take my wife to some matches as I did last year then the membership means that it costs us £218 instead of £252 (saving £34) with an extra person through the gates cheering us on. Considering my wife is also a Wigan fan and still comes to Salford with me and cheers us on I think this isn't a bad deal even for a pay as you go.

The crux of this matter is a season ticket costs £180 on the early bird deal whether you take out the membeship or not. If you take the membership you get some extra benefits which we didn't get last year which is aimed at getting more families in. If you don't want to pay this price you can go pay as you go either full price or like me work out how it can best benefit you and your family, which also brings in a few more through the gates.

Finally, has it escaped everyone that the reason we have let players go is because we don't have enough money in the club. We have a catch 22 here where we can't get fans because we don't have a good squad and we can't get a good squad without having the fans paying their money. perhaps we should all find our best fit solution and pay our money as always.

I just spoke to someone who is a season ticket holder at Goodison Park and his season ticket went up by £40 this year. When you're already paying over £500 for it and you don't get any shirt offers or cup games i think we're being a bit petty. Just an observation!!!!!
