All the fans who supported the last game at the Willows please get down to the Salford v Swinton game Sunday 6th January. The club need your support more than ever, if you haven't been for a while please support them at that game to save a part of Salford's heritage. It's £12 adults £7 conc. available from the stadium now.

I urge fans to stay away from the Swinton game, last thing we need is to give this regime more time. So what if we go to admin, then we get fundraising for a reform club. Please this regime has done enough damage it's suicide doing what FR are doing. The money now being raised will be just paying Wilkys debt with NO guarantee of survival.....

Here here.

You'd hope a good number who went to the last game turn up and possibly a few from other clubs who want to help the club too.

Do we know if the standing areas will be open?
The only information on the club site says tickets are on sale for sections 3,4,5 and 6 of the West stand.
If people turn up on the day will they be able to get in?

Difficult one this as Philyourboots makes some good points.

On balance though I think a big crowd would make a big statement to the local/RL communities and any potential new owners.

Not wishing to put a downer on your efforts but I do believe any gate money goes to the Championship club after of course costs are deducted.
This has been the case now for a number of season where a Championship club plays a Super League club pre-season.

That only lasted a couple of seasons i think. Don't think its the case anymore. You could always donate Swintons share back to Salford.

I will be there with the rest of my family.
We should try and get as many people there as possible to show that Salfordians do care about their club.
No excuses as there are no local Football (soccer) games then and not much else happening that day.
Lets show future investors what can be achieved if they come on board.

PYB while I and lots of others would agree with you over the present administration urging people to stay away is short sighted and ridiculous. You need to put aside your feelings of anger towards the present incumbants and think about what a poor crowd says to anyone who might be interested in taking over the club. Stay away fans will not show any proof of the strength of feeling. All it would prove is an apathy that any prospective new owner would take as a reason for not investing.
We need a big crowd, not from a monetary point of view but from a look at how viable the club is point of view. We need people to show their passion for the club and rugby in the city. This is a game against our city rivals. A poor crowd would say we don't care about rugby in the borough and would be a nail in the coffin for the sport in the area not just Salford RLFC.
I say get there in your droves, be vocal and let your feelings be known. PYB, you obviously feel strongly. Use your passion constructively not destructively. I understand your feelings and respect your opinion about monies raised but I truly think you are wide of the mark on this one.

I disagree, we've shown previously that we're more than capable in attracting 5 figure crowds with Catalans at the Willows remember, to which if any forthcoming investor would of noticed in their homework about the club. It would of been a bigger crowd with a decent away following, Salford for me has great potential with very few teams in superleague having City status. Regardless of the Swinton attendance it wouldn't send any type of message out, the fact we're a City perfectly located in RL territory with 100 years plus behind us would be attractive to most businessman, its obvious JW's debt is the main reason a new regime isn't in place, they've obviously already seen something positive about Salford to contemplate coming on board, a big crowd to me shows faith to JW nothing else.

I'm also not angered by these incumbents, I'm just fed up and tired of JW lauders propping him up, when us realists saw this coming ages ago. I won't give another penny until this regime have gone completely. Nothing to do with short sighted and ridiculous. Enough is Enough however other people I talk to say the club died when we left the Willows. I hope they're wrong.

My worry is that it's in other people's interests to prop us up as a failed/failing super league club for 12 more months until there's time for the RFL to bring in a replacement (at which point they'd be free to discard us).

Personally, unless there is a serious/genuine investor waiting in the wings, I'd sooner see us turn our back on Super League whilst there's still a fighting fund and a bit of good will left.

It might sound defeatist but my fear is another shambolic 12 months without GENUINE hope for long term improvement will kill us for good.

If there is a serious investor waiting in the wings and the only barrier to them coming in is as Wayward fan says, the JW debt then surely paying this debt off allowing them to come in with a clean slate is the way to go. Both Wayward and PYB are contradicting your own arguments. I don't disagree that JW must go and the sooner the better, but I fail to see what staying away achieves.
One big crowd in about 5 seasons for a nostalgic farewell to the Willows will not in my view instill confidence in an investor that there is currently enough interest in saving the club. I believe that we need to show that we want the club to survive now by turning up in numbers.
JW doesn't want any more time. He quite clearly wants out so why assume that getting together funds to save the club short term would lead to him staying in control. If the investor is there and ready then surely they will come in when the conditions are right for them, ie no debt. How that is achieved is irrelevant to their investment.

They'd notice one five figure crowd in how many years? They'd notice the vast majority of attendances being in the 2000 - 5000 range, and that the people of Salford couldn't be bothered to turn up for a friendly when that game could be the club's last ever. What message does that send out?

Quote: Philyourboots "

Debateable. If there is such a huge support for RL in Salford, where is it? Is there a thriving amateur scene in the city? Does the city's other professional club pack them in at the LSV? How many Salfordians are currently playing in Super League? How does that compare to smaller towns and cities like, say, Leigh?

Quote: Philyourboots "
its obvious JW's debt is the main reason a new regime isn't in place,'"

From thew meeting, JW said the debt owed to him and to Howard Clague would, effectively, be written off, so I find it less obvious than you do that the debt is the reason so few investors have ever come forward. Were they knocking at the door when the club wasn't in so much debt?

Quote: Philyourboots "a big crowd to me shows faith to JW nothing else.'"

I'm sure that those people who turn up will be there to support the team and the club, not the board of directors.

Quote: Philyourboots "I'm also not angered by these incumbents, I'm just fed up and tired of JW lauders propping him up, when us realists saw this coming ages ago.'"

Who are these 'JW lauders'? I don't think I've ever seen anyone on here say everything is rosy. I have, though, seen people on here try to explain to you that without the money the board have put in, the club would have folded years ago. No-one, though, is saying they haven't made mistakes. For some reason, you can't seem to grasp that and then, instead of trying to make your case, just resort to infantile name calling.

Quote: Philyourboots "I won't give another penny until this regime have gone completely. Nothing to do with short sighted and ridiculous. Enough is Enough however other people I talk to say the club died when we left the Willows. I hope they're wrong.'"

The regime are trying to go, so I'm not sure what you're hoping to achieve with this. Do you think it will speed their departure along somehow?

You're either choosing to misread my point or are doing so inadvertently.

I'll clarify either way: I'm not suggesting that anyone should boycott the Swinton game ( it'd be a little hypocritical as I'm going myself despite usually avoiding friendlies).

I am, however, sceptical of the motives of some of the parties involved and do not want to see the one group of people I have absolute faith in (the fans - including Forever Reds) taken for a ride.

I'm also a little dubious about this mystery 'buyer' and, until there is absolute clarity over the whole situation, I'd urge the likes of Forever Reds and Cavendish Street to keep a tight hold of whatever funds they have worked so hard to raise.
