Obviously it depends on when, where and what medium you advertise. At our place we’ve just paid £2,700 for a month’s worth of digital ads on the Manchester Evening News website and Greater Manchester Business Week.
To give you an example, I’ve just looked at the availability of public advertising for the two weeks leading up to the Hull game on July 22nd. An advert shown once per minute on a digital screen in a single pub (one of those little ones near the bar) in town can be had for £20 per week. Most bus shelters in Salford can be had for £120 per week. The billboard next to Aldi in Eccles can be had for £300 per week. And a billboard on the M602 can be had for £1,350 per week.
The issue is scale. So lets say you did 3 well exposed billboards, 10 lesser seen billboards, 30 bus shelters, 10 digital screens, and ran a targeted Facebook ad campaign. You’re looking at around £20,000 for advertising during that fortnight. You could reduce the exposure to spend less, but the campaign is more likely to be missed.
