It seems that consistency in punishment doesn't exist at the RFL, after MCB has been sidelined for 8-12 weeks and needs surgery on the leg injury caused by Brough on Monday.

It seems to me that if we are not going to outlaw the tackling to the lower leg in multiple tackles, we at least have to be consistent with the punishment when it happens. I think Brough can count himself extremely lucky not to be facing a lengthy ban, because it seems to be luck that determines punishment of these incidents at the moment. Players are getting injured and other players are not facing the consequences of their actions all over SL. I think all that most fans want is consistency, and to me, it's not happening.

It's ridiculous that the RFL consider themselves as medical professionals, in that their assessment of the tackle was OK because it hit the back of the knee which is consistent with natural movement. Whilst all tackles which result in an injury shouldn't be penalised (I accept some are accidental) I have watched the Brough incident again and again and it is quite clearly an attack to the knees.
Given the bans which have been handed out so far this season, it's an easy 2-4 game ban.
Whilst Mason Caton-Brown is out for 8-12 weeks, Danny Brough can continue making such challenges because according to the RFL they are OK.
