Quote: John Gilbert Reds "Odd people are picking Dixon ahead of Ashurst, considering the form both have been in recently ie one has been out for a long time, the other playing brilliantly (Wigan excluded but same goes for them all). Ashurst ahead of Dixon for me.
I would also drop Tomkins, haven't been impressed since his reintroduction. I don't think it's a coincidence that out best run of form included Tommy Lee playing 80 minutes at hooker. Evalds on the bench as he provides cover from 1 to 7 and even 9 at a push.'"
Ashurst has been solid, nothing more nothing less. I think a lot of people are giving Dixon the nod because, although they a very similar players, Dixon is the better out of the two. He runs better lines, is more likely to make a line break, has better hands and can do the tough stuff in defence.
I like Ashurst, but I honestly just think he’s an average run of the mill back row forward, what you see is what you get. I like his attitude and work rate, but as for pure rugby league ability Dixon is the better of the two.
