Quote: Bigpev "they may not come from Salford, on another note, I was at Walkden High yesterday on Governor business and I sat through a number of assemblies as part of what we were doing. One of the visiting staff members who took one of the assemblies asked the audience of 240 year 8 pupils who supported Salford City Reds, I was sat at the back and counted the number of hands that went up, 7 out of 240. The visiter was from Wigan and a Wigan fan and when I spoke to her later she was quite shocked that so few kids suported their local team, she said in Wigan nearly all the hands would have gone up. Very worrying.'"
What do you expect from a school that doesn't even encourage kids to play the game.
When Dyl first started there ( year 1 for me as I'm old school lol) he went to the first training session for the school team. The school only allowed those good enough to be allowed to carry on training and be in the school team. All the others were told they couldn't attend training anymore.
After that he decided he didn't want to play anymore. He went from being really excited to have a chance to play to being totally dejected. When I was at school it didn't matter how good you were you were still allowed to train with the team so you had the chance to improve.
That kind of attitude will stop kids from wanting to play and watch rugby league.
