Think you're massively over-reacting, there have been times that my colleagues and I haven't been paid on time and I've worked for several local authorities, local and central government, etc. Really not a big deal - banks are used to it happening and are happy to fund any direct debits, etc. on the say-so of the employer until an emergency payment can be made in place of missing wages.
Not saying it's good or that the club aren't in the wrong, just that it's no big deal.
Wild has every right to moan about it but needs to be careful what he says 'in public' about his employer, especially if they have a strict social network policy (which I doubt). Three of my colleagues were recently given final written warnings for discussing work matter that weren't confidential, or even that sensitive, on Facebook.
