Wembley 09 - if it never gets better than that, at least I was there....
Wembley 10 - it did........and I was there again.
2011 - SL League Leaders.
2012 - CC Winners...great day, great friends
Blimey, its getting good this supporting thing (or am I a fan.....):d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_24098.jpg |

| Want to start by saying I though Childs generally had a good game, but.....
If that was a regular SL game, would Smythies have stayed on the field for those 2 swinging arms to the head ?
Both were penalised, so sufficiently bad enough to be punished, but why wasn't a yellow given, at least for the 2nd ??
I cannot believe that wouldnt have happened in a regular game, but again shows the serious inconsistency of officialdom that imo, is stifling the game and its followers.
He may be punished 'after the fact', but thats hardly fair on the immediate opponent.
That decision imo definitely influenced the game, so the poor decision making by officials, again, influenced the outcome of a game....and not for the first time this season either. Dont get me started on 'its a try for me, even though I couldnt see a thing, and purely guessing...'
Fully expect to be shot down on this, but for me its ruining a game I support.

Stopping the game instantly when Hill went down but waving play on when Thornley & Cust did.
Whatever that penalty was for at the scrum when Huddersfield trapped the ball.
3 on 1 "knock on"
Giving Huddersfield 2 points before they'd touched the ball.
But in the end, it didn't even matter.

| Smithies should have been given 10 minutes for the first hit, he may then have been less aggressive when he returned. However a similar hit should then be a red.

That penalty from the scum was a joke. As soon as a team traps the ball the opposition should push.

| James Child is just a pathetic referee, he has absolutely no control of the game at all. Wigan were deciding when things were happening and allowing Farrell ten minutes to compose his side when he faked the head injury was very typical of his weakness. Smithies should have had two yellows but I don't think Child had a big say in the outcome. Huddersfield did enough to win that game but just clammed up too much in the final stages. Wigan were clinical in the closing stages, but Huddersfield will be gutted they let them do it, they were easily the better side. And they need to find a proper goalkicker.

Shut up you idiot,Farrell never stays down, and we was losing at that time.
It was a clear smack to the chops and should have got 10 for that and yes Smithies should have been binned so should one of theirs for slowing the play at the end of the first half ,professional foul.

| It was clearly referred differently because it was a final. Not had him much this season, but Earlier in the season child gave out 4 cards in one game between hudds and castleford for much lesser offences. And those cards changed the momentum within the game each time.
The problem is entirely with the way things were done at the start of the season. Now there’s no consistency. And that’s exactly what was said was going to happen. And is why fans get annoyed.
Those four players sent off early in the season can quite rightly feel aggrieved that those cards are now on their playing records (incidentally none of the players were charged further) and will be taken into account against them in the future.
It would be interesting for child to explain his reasoning - but that doesn’t happen and so speculation will abound.
Be also interesting to see what happens today. But I suspect not much.

| There were several big decisions Child got wrong, only one went in Huddersfield’s favour.
Yes, I Smithies should have got 10 for the high shot on Greenwood.
There was a blatant professional foul holding down French just before half time that should also have been a sin bin.
The McQueen try had 2 obstructions in it, both lead runners went straight into defenders not through the line, identical to the obstruction he have in the first set against Wigan.
I’d also question why the game was stopped immediately for Hill’s leg injury yet allowed to play on for Thornley’s leg injury which was only a few yards from the play the ball.
People can focus on a single incident and try and blame the ref all they like but the bottom line is Huddersfield’s tactics were negative which in the end cost them the game.

In relation to the injury, I’m not sure what you were watching but the game wasn’t stopped immediately at all! Hill was injured carrying the ball in a tackle, the game was only stopped after you had the ball and had played the ball a couple of times! hill initially went down, the game continued, he tried to get up again and couldn’t, the game still continued, it was only when he had completely broken down and the game was then coming towards him that the game was stopped. It was clear he’d done something major-he played no further part in the game - thornley played on so you can’t compare the two!
Could also mention the play where Jerry almost scored and on the next play cogger went for the line and two wigan players tackled him high, one round the neck, the other round the head that went unpunished. - we could play this fit for tat game all day long!!!
But there’s a difference between a desperate tackle and a deliberate forearm smash to the face.
I know Morgan personally-always cheer him on when he’s not playing against us - but he should have walked. It may well have made no difference but consistency is what we’ve been asking for all season and that stupidity at the start of the season means we will never have it.

| You're right there Jools. Only stopped play when the PTB got close to Hill. Right decision.

That was pretty much my point, the choice of many has been to focus on one decision, there were plenty that went against Wigan too.

Absolutely spot on.
Said same at the game when a 'Pies' fan was whinging. It was obvious that Hill was badly injured the way he went down the second time, and as you say there were a couple of PTB's before the play came towards him.
