| Is it working?
A number of time Leeds got the 6 again, on the first tackle in their own 10. Where is the advantage in this? Surely they would prefer a kick to touch?

| I think for the most part it is working but imo on the 1st tackle it should be a penalty.
Most teams are happily holding down on the 1st tackle, especially on their opponents line whilst they set their defence.

Wasn't the 6 again rule designed to speed up the game? it's only like having 7 tackles when the ball is kicked dead.

It’s usually very effective at the 5th tackle stage, wingers drop back expecting the kick but when the 5th tackle is slow and the ref decides a 6 again then the team benefits from a broken defensive line on the edges.

In the NRL that offence is a penalty and has really worked in reducing these first tackle tactics. The rule also extends to as far as the 40 metres line and should be adopted in SL.

That makes much more sense

| I prefer simplicity, a rule for 6 again unless it’s in your own 40m just seems overly complex when viewed by a casual fan.
I liked the idea in principle, but it’s made teams focus too much in the central third of the pitch for me. I’d be happy for us to go back to how things were, but I can’t see it happening.

How it was before was worse. Teams were given far too much leeway in slowing the PTB and the amount of offsides missed was a joke.
Also the game allowed teams to play the percentages where giving away a penalty was a preference.

Offsides is still a problem, and still penalised with a penalty rather than a 6 again. We constantly seem to want the game sped up, sometimes I think the increase in speed is at the detrement for the need of skill in breaking down a defence, teams get obsessed with quick play the balls and we see a bit of a scootathon and a central based game.
I'm also not a fan that teams can't kick for goal if they are being intentionally slowed down at the play the ball and that its now less likely for a side to have a player put in the bin for persistantly slowing down the play the ball.
I'd rather keep things simple and enforce the rules, rather than bringing in a new rule to solve an issue, much simplier for the casual fan.

The NRL has got quicker yet the skill level remains high. They also see players put in the bin for repeat offences for offsides or slowing the PTB when a side is close to the try line.
Superleague skill level has declined but its certainly not because the game has got any quicker. We just don't have the quality of player seen previously.
