I just watched the Mose Masoe interview on sky.

It's clear that the recovery he has made so far is miraculous. It's also clear that he will never be back to anything near to normal and will have significant challenges for the rest of his life.

I think the Mose Masoe weekend being put on by Sky is a great idea and those who can afford to support it should seriously think about doing so.

Seems strange that he may be struggling financially - I would've thought that his insurance would've covered him. If this could happen to him it could happen to any player. Is any journalist doing any investigating to see what actually is covered in these policies?

Didn't have insurance and the RFL's policy isn't going to provide enough cover. Hence the need for a Mose weekend.

Not sure what a journalist investigating would add to the picture.

I would hope this brings about some sort of review of the insurance cover SL clubs are required to obtain. Serious injury is rare, but it happens.

Great idea for a Mose Masoe round but, regarding insurance, it seems crazy for professional players not to be covered for this kind of injury.
Thankfully they are rare injuries but, not to be covered is just madness

Those of a certain age will remember the CICA who would literally knock down your door once they got whiff you played amateur rugby league promising you the earth if you ever got injured. When you did get injured your policy would eventually pay out about £4 a week having paid premiums of about £10 a week for 10 years

I genuinely thought insurance for players were mandatory

Absolute speculation on my part but Mose had had previous spinal problems so may not have been able to get insured.
Terrible situation for what seem to be a lovely family.

Just been on commentary in oz game that 55000 dollars raised for mose so far this weekend good to see rugby communty over there rallying round too feel so sorry for the bloke i was at the friendly and the tackle was so inocuous but so life changing

Well all that is news to me so it's worth a story IMO.

Masoe's injury is quite a rare occurrence thankfully and I bet most players don't read thr fine print of their insurance agreements. I bet many may wrongky assume they're covered in such eventualities.
