| I have just read the statement put out by the RFL - they are set to investigate by the sounds & fine etc to stamp this behaviour out of the game, they will not investigate the ref or his actions & his in-actions. He will be protected & all blame will be on the players & the away club fans, they will not act on Catalan as they protect a foreign team within the league. It is a pet thing they have with the perceived spread of the game.
It's too easy to blame people who & clubs, to be seen external to the wider news media & to be seen to be acting strong.
They will Definately protect the official ref, quote" what ever the ref rules, players must respect his decisions " therfore, the ref knows he is protected & will continue in his " protected ignorance " therefore the game is in disrepute legally to all RL supporters & all must accept !!!!!!I
We are light years behind the NRL in officiating a match & have no inkling that the product is in the entertainment game.

| However bad the referee is that is no excuse for players getting sent off or fans fighting in the stands.
It takes a bizarre and warped mind to assume that it could.

The truest word spoken on here! A disgrace to the game.

So Child loses control of the game, allows the worst house tactics I’ve ever seen against my team to go unpunished set after set, Wire fans angrily protest about it in the stands and have bottles and glasses thrown at them by the home fans... and that’s not Child’s fault?

No, it's not.
If you can't accept that at some point, a referee will make an error or a decision that doesn't go the way you want it to go, you aren't mature enough to watch professional sport. Most of the people involved were grown adults - they should be capable of behaving as such.
You don't have to approve of James Child's performance but to blame that for what followed is, at best, pathetic deflection and whataboutism, and at worst, incredibly dangerous to this sport. How can anyone wonder why we have a refereeing recruitment problem with attitudes like this? I watch many sports and there isn't a set of supporters that obsesses over officials quite like RL supporters.
Whether you like Child or not, the bottom line is that there is a level of responsibility on both players and fans to conduct themselves properly. They failed to do that and it is only they to blame.

Isn't it cute the way that some fans think their own players are angels and the Naughty opponents are picking on them.
If I recall correctly it was Warrington who handing out the high tackles in the first half even after their captain had been sin binned.

No it’s not. And anybody who thinks that is the case is as much of a Neanderthal as those who were swinging the punches. HTH.

Watch those tackles back.
Chris Hill’s tackle was under the arm pit. One of Patton’s was when he grabbed Tomkins’ collar to tackle him and the other was across the top of the chest and Bird shot his head back as if he’d been hit in the forehead with a metal bar and got up laughing about it, and one of Philbin’s it was across the collar.
In the very first set we had of the ball in the game, one of our players was punched in the face and there was a knees in third man in one of the tackles. It was like this all game, every set. The ref did next to nothing, he kept saying “I didn’t see it”.
Nowhere, however, have I said Wire players were angels, stop making stuff up. We put in some bad tackles in many games and did today too. But it wasn’t a set-by-set tactic that the ref was ignoring like the other team.

If you think a poor performance from a ref caused thst you need to have a cognative assessment.
I've seen terrible ref performances, I've seen fights on the pitch at no point have I decided to launch an assault on opposition fans.
Anyone trying to spin this is like a low grade political adviser, trying to deflect the real blame.
So far it has been chairs thrown - no evidence
Bottles and drinks thrown - saw that in both directions but after the zombie assault on the boxes started.
Now it's the refs fault - NO IT'S NOT.

I don’t mind Child. But he was a ing disgrace tonight.
And I can accept that refs make mistakes but to make them over and over and over again is going lose control of the game and/or spark a reaction from the crowd. You can’t say you’ve never lost your in the stands at a referee before, surely?
But the imagine someone throwing a wine bottle at you because you’ve protested against a referee decision. You’re not going to smile and wave at the bloke are you?

So is it Wire fans’ fault for protesting against the refs decisions that caused missiles to be thrown at them by Catalan fans?

Of course I've got frustrated at refereeing decisions, but I can honestly say I've "never lost my poop" at a referee because I'm mature enough to accept that they will make mistakes and that they will, on occasion, referee a game in a way that I might not like. That's what I accept when I watch professional sport. Referees often make decisions based on interpretation and perspective, and they are often going to be different to mine.
What I also know is that James Child knows the rules of RL better than any supporter. You don't have to like him, you don't have to rate him, but he's eminently more qualified that you, I or anyone else on this forum to take charge of a Super League fixture.
I'm not commenting on "who threw what" because frankly, there's nothing but speculation and conjecture on here - the tweets you linked to on the other thread are simply the accounts of a few Wire fans and we have to treat they with scepticism, as we should treat any similar claims from Dragons fans. That's why there will be an investigation.
The long and the short of it is that anybody who tries to say James Child and his team is responsible for what happened tonight is, in my view, somebody who this sport is is far better off without.

First bit yes
Second bit pure speculation
