With the proposed return of the national team for the Australian tour next year, can Hummel come up with something to win fans over with something like this? I'd love to see a return to cotton jerseys too.
I thought the proposal was for a combined team of British and Irish players, and not for a "national team" for solely the UK.
I agree that it would be good to at least have the option of a cotton jersey. I like the kit that Kevin Ward is wearing, although my favourite sponsor was British Coal.
It has, really. I mean, the BBC headline about the tour used the words "Great Britain and Irish Lions to tour in 2019 and 2024", with no mention in the article about it yet to be decided whether it would include Ireland or not. If the decision hasn't yet been made to include Ireland, then the RFL or RLIF should get onto the BBC and ask them to update the article with the necessary clarifications. It would only take a couple of sentences just to mention that the decision on whether to include Ireland has not yet been taken. If you're running a sport then you have a responsibility to try and make sure that media outlets are reporting things accurately. On that basis I can only assume that they have already decided to include Ireland and are happy for the BBC and others to write that in their articles.
