So whos going? Mrs James and I are staying in Carlisle and getting the train in and out. Not sure we will make the Toronto game but looking forward to all the other games! Saturday is choc full of great games

Had the hotel booked for about 5 months for them to email me about 3 weeks ago to confirm cancellation of my room as it is an "events weekend" and if I want to stay then I will have to re-book. Obviously at a much higher rate.

I will not be going unless it is for the day as I don't have a penny to scratch mi ars* with at the minute so I don't want to be paying even more when I'd already booked.

That's disgraceful. Don't stay in hotels often so never heard of people doing it. I'm presuming it's legal but it really shouldn't.

That is terrible! What an awful thing to happen! Legally, can they do this?

Hotel costs is the reason the missus and I are staying in Carlisle. It’s only an hour on the train from Carlisle and hotels are cheap as chips there

This kind of stuff happened with the Cardiff Hoteliers all those years ago.
We always use to book a place that was a 30 min train ride away.
I wonder if the hotels do it when Newcastle are playing there football at home or is it just an opportunity to hit the rugby fans in the pocket being a weekender.

I would presume it's only when there is something going on for the full weekend, I can't imagine there are too many fans staying over on Away days. Usually just the train/coach back and get absolutely spangled! I spent mi last £30 for month last weekend on an away day coach ride home. Worth it though man.

Been most years, Newcastle is a great place but the way Widnes are at the moment I can’t justify spending all that money.

Your not far wrong. Unless the board and management team know something about next years set up, there walking to the championship. Injuries haven’t helped but every team has them. I’d rather spend my money on my Eastern med cruise!

It’s supply and demand. At any event, or anytime when hotel rooms are in high demand, they will charge more for them.
